Colton 6 Months Old

<Colton 6 Months Old

Yesterday was Colton's 6 month old birthday. I can't believe that my baby is already half a year old. Yeah, I know. I'm pitiful. He has changed so much in the past couple of months. He is definitely doing new things like sitting up more with only minimal falls. He has two new teeth. His first one popped through about a couple of weeks ago and the second one appeared Sunday night, while I was giving him a bath. He loves eating his baby food. He eats 3 Stage 2 size jars of baby food a day and he drinks a 5 ounce bottle on top of that. Last night for supper, he drank 4 ounces of milk and 2 Stage 2 jars of baby food. He was HUNGRY! Oh, one more thing. He drank out of his new sippy cup for the first time last night. He's had a dry cough for the past few days. Around midnight, he kept coughing. When I checked in on him, he was asleep, but I didn't think he was getting a restful sleep with the coughing. So, I gave him 2 ounces of Pear Juice in his sippy. He took to it without any problems. He drank it all up and went right back to sleep. I think it helped his cough because I didn't hear him as much after that. Dr. Lunsford said his lungs were clear and didn't see anything serious, so I'm just going to watch him close.

He had his 6 month appointment this afternoon. He is doing great! Currently, he is over 29" tall, 16 pounds and healthy as can be. According to the scale, he is off the chart. Dr. Lunsford said he is very tall for his age. {Proud mama moment} Colton did loose a little weight. About a month ago, I took him in for a mysterious rash and he weighed well over 16 pounds. If he did loose weight, it wasn't by much. I'm sure he'll make up for it.

Funny Sunday!

I got this from my sister, Sandy, and had to share with all my Conservative American Friends. Go Liberty!

The United States Postal Service (USPS) created a stamp with a picture of Barack Obama on it. The USPS noticed that the stamp was not sticking to envelopes. This enraged Obama, who demanded a full investigation.

After a month of testing and $11.73 million in congressional spending, a special commission presented the following findings:

1. The stamp is in perfect order.
2. There is nothing wrong with the glue.
3. People are spitting on the wrong side.

This little baby tickled Katie and I, dancing to Beyonce's song "Single Ladies." Too cute!

Recovering

Just a quick update
Katie and I are still resting and getting over our virus. I just love how a virus will attack you during a beautiful weekend and ruin all your plans. Oh well! At least we had a weekend in order to heal. Thank goodness it rained most of the morning today or I think I would have cried. Yesterday, it was so inviting because all we've seen for the past few weeks is RAIN.

Millard and Peggy are surviving having an infant in their household for the weekend. LOL! Peggy said, all Colton wants to do is play, play, play and absolute no sleep. LOL! Yeah, that's my Colton. Katie and I miss him so much and it was hard for me to let him go for a couple of days. I checked in with Peggy and Millard often, to get an update on Colt. My main concern was his health. Him staying with them was to avoid getting sick in the first place. So far, so good. Lord willing, if Katie and I continue to improve, Colton will be back with us tomorrow afternoon.

All Katie and I did today was play - Barbies, Polly Pocket, Colored, Groovy Girls, computer games and of course watched a fantastic game (Alabama 35 vs. Arkansas 7). ROLL TIDE! I hated to see Upshaw get hurt. Hopefully, it won't be serious. How about Washington blocking that punt? Way to go! They all played a wonderful game.

Katie was definately feeling better this afternoon because she was driving me crazy. You would have thought the child had eaten a pound of sugar because she was bouncing off the walls. She decided to give me a ballet lesson while I was trying to watch the game. Every time I turned around, she was bouncing and dancing around the house. I had a terrible time getting her to sit still and rest. It just wasn't going to happen. I'm glad she's feeling better, but oh me. Needless to say, mama didn't get to rest much like I had planned. This was making up time missed from Katie since Colton's been born. I think I'll sleep in tomorrow.

Thanks for the prayers!

Family Sickness

Unfortuately this week hasn't gone as planned, but that's okay. After school on Wednesday, Katie began acting funny. She was whiny, clingy and not her usual bouncy self. To top it off she had a dry cough. She began running a low grade temperature of 99.8 degrees. Uh oh! I watched her very close and quarantined her in her bedroom for the rest of the day. I had her all set up in her bedroom (TV, coloring book & crayons, books, dolls, juice & crackers & peanut butter). She wasn't happy because she couldn't talk to me from the Living Room. So, we worked it out by me holding Colton and talking to her down the hallway. It was a sight.

The next morning, her fever was still gone, but now she had a croupy cough. I had her stay in her room until I felt comfortable that the germ was gone. It seemed like a 24 hour bug. She said she didn't hurt any where. She just didn't feel good and all she wanted was me. We worked it out to where I would tend to Colton, get him settled (playpen or in bed)and I would spend time with Katie. Right when I thought everything was clear, Katie crawled up in her bed and went to sleep. I really didn't think anything of it because I knew that she needed the rest. When she got up from her nap, she started it again (whiny, clingy, very croupy cough and fever - 100.8 degrees). After I gave her some more Tylenol, I called Dr. Lunsford to see if we could come in today, just in case this wasn't going away. I guess the cough is what concerned me the most. I was afraid that it would settle in her lungs. Well, he had an opening yesterday afternoon. I went ahead and took it because I wanted to make sure that she didn't have anything worse and with the weekend fast approaching, I didn't need to wait around too long. Peggy was sweet enough to watch Colton for me, while Katie and I went to the doctor's office. With her symptoms, they automatically tested her for flu. It came back negative, but Dr. Lunsford wasn't going to go by the test. He said the test really doesn't rule out the flu. My question is - if the test really doesn't mean anything, then why do they do the test? He checked her lungs, heart, stomach, ears and throat. He said everything was clear. He believes that all she has is a virus and for us to just wait it out. She's doing much better today. So far, her fever is staying away. She still has her croupy cough, sneezing and runny nose. She's kind of upset with me because I won't let her run around and play hard. When I explained to her about the fever, she calmed down quickly because she hates taking medicine. Her appetite still hasn't shown up yet. I think all I was able to get her to eat was 4 pieces of McNuggets. Today, all she's ate was one bite of a biscuit. I'm keeping her cup full of juice, so she's hydrated.

Last night, I accidentally mistaken her McDonald's drink for mine and took a swig. Oops! I woke up this morning with a croupy cough and I'm very horse, but I don't ache or anything.

Yesterday, Katie's croupy cough left her horse. I didn't want to strain her throat anymore than it had been. So, I gave her my little bell that my Grandpa Godfrey gave me. I told her to ring the bell if she needed food, something to drink or if she's feeling sick. It wasn't long before she was trying out her bell. I'd go back there expecting her to say that she was sick or hungry. Nope! She wanted to talk or play with me. Ugh! After a million unnecessary bell rings, I told her that I would be forced to take it away if she didn't stop ringing the bell for things other than the 3 reasons mentioned. Amazingly, she suddenly understood what I was telling her. Isn't that something?

I think Peggy and Millard are going to come by here a little later, to pick up Colton and let him stay with them for a few hours. I guess I sound worse than I feel. They want me to rest. I suppose it's a good idea and I need to take them up on the offer.

Movies In Review
New In Town & 17 Again are great chick flick, if you ever need a good girl's night. Oh my gosh! I laughed and laughed at these two movies. I don't know, maybe I'm easily amused. I highly recommend them!

Quarantine
I've seen the preview for this movie awhile back. Now, I'm always game for a good scary movie. I noticed it was playing on Showtime this week. I had it TiVoed. As I was rocking Colton to sleep for the night last Friday, I thought I would play the movie. Oh me! Let's just say, it was dark and quiet and the movie was a little too real for me to continue to watch it during the night. Ewww! I'll have to give you a full review when I get the courage to watch DURING THE DAYTIME. I shiver just thinking about it.

Watch For The Upcoming Movies
Alright you Disney Movie Collectors! "Toy Story" has a new movie coming out - "Toy Story 3." In celebration of the new movie, Disney is showing both "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" in 3D at theaters. Recently, Katie has been loving "Toy Story." I need to make sure I pick up the next movie in the collection.

My personal favorite, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is coming out on Blu-Ray HD, I believe October 3rd. Keep your eyes open! I can't wait.

Tylenol Recall Notice
Is your child's Tylenol on the recall list? Katie's Tylenol wasn't on the list, but Colton's was. So, in the trash it went. Please check the list HERE . This list is supplied by Tylenol.

The notice begins: "You may have heard that McNeil Consumer Healthcare (the makers of Tylenol) is voluntarily recalling certain lots of Children's and Infants' Tylenol liquid products that were manufactured between April, 2008 and June, 2008 in consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)."

Follow that and you'll make it to a letter that sheds some light on what you "may have heard":
The company has implemented this recall because examination of bulk raw material detected that one of the inactive ingredients did not meet internal testing requirements.Specifically, the gram-negative bacteria Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) was detected. The portion of raw material in which the bacteria was found was isolated and was not used in the production of any finished product. However, it was decided, as a precaution, to recall all product that utilized any of the raw material manufactured at the same time as the raw material that tested positive for the bacteria. Please note: No bacteria has been detected in finished product and the finished product has met all specifications.

Do Ya Smell What's The Katie's Been Cookin'?

Gum In The Hair
Yes, Katie went to spit out her gum and in her hair it went. Unfortunately, she didn't come to me with this problem. Instead, she thought she could fix it without coming to me, I'm guessing. Why I say this is because by the time she came to me about it, it was all tangled up in her hair. Real nice!

The first thing that I could think of was apply ice. Right? Well, it didn't work. I called my sister, Susan, to see what she would suggest. She thought maybe peanut butter or conditioner would do the trick. Nope, not for my child. The more I talked about cutting her hair, the more she whined and cried. Peggy suggested that I call my Cosmetologist, Theresa, and get her advice. Yes, that's an idea. Why didn't I think of it? Theresa told me to apply oil, the oilier the better. She recommended olive oil, but I couldn't find mine right off the bat. So, I grabbed the next best thing, Canola. As soon as it was applied to the gum, it was no time before it was all gone. Katie was relieved to find out that she didn't have to cut her hair.

The next job was to get the oil out of her hair. Ugh! First, I automatically reached for Katie's shampoo. Her hair was still oily and that's when I realized that her shampoo has conditioner already in it. It's one of those 3 in 1. The next 2 times, I washed her hair with my shampoo and had to let it work in really well before rinsing. Whala! All better.

Do You Smell Something?
That's what Katie asked me as I'm drying her hair. At first, I didn't know what she was talking about until it finally hit me. Doug asks her the same thing when he has just let out some gas. I know, it's gross. She had passed gas and as soon as she said that, she began laughing {her head thrown back and her eyes closed}. I'm hoping it's just a man thing and not a Katie as well. I asked her if that's what her daddy says. "Yeah! {giggling}." Doing my motherly job, I told her that we don't say things like that. Right out of her mouth, she says, "like butt. We don't say butt. Do we?" Oh me. I had to do everything to hold it back because this was way out of control.

Colton's Teeth
Poor baby has really been throwing fits this afternoon. Well at tubby time, I found out why. As I'm checking his tooth that was poking through, I felt the whole tooth now. It's at the point where the gum is separated from the tooth more, which is good for him. I can see the other tooth, but it hasn't poked through yet. It probably won't be long. He's been in quite a bit of pain, poor baby. I hate it for him because there's not much I can do to ease his pain. He has been chewing on everything he can get his hands on.

He continues to practice sitting up with a couple of pillows or his Boppy to help stablize him. He can lay down on his back to the pillow and sit right back up on his tush. I even noticed him laying on his side and was able to get his balance to push himself back up straight. He doesn't do it every time, but he is doing better.

Guess Where Beth Moore's Visiting?

Attention Wyoming Family!
I just took a look at Beth Moore's blog and guess where she is? Jackson Hole, visiting family. What a small world? You have to check it out by CLICKING HERE. Yeah, I know it is still some distance from you, but hey. I absolutely love Beth Moore's message of God Love and Strength. She is awesome! Among many photos, she has displayed, she has captured the Tetons and wild life. Oh, how it brought back memories. It's like I remember. I would love to go back some day with my family and show them the breathe taking Rocky Mountains.

The Diet Life
Well it's day four for my Weight Watchers diet. I think it is going pretty steady. I only had to use my emergency points twice this week (10 out of the 35). Yesterday, I ate 23 points worth of food out of the 24 daily points. I should have ate that last point. It's very important that I eat all the points provided. But Yay! I don't feel as starved today as I did on days one and two. Today, I've been more selfish with my points. If I'm about to eat something, I ask myself "is it point worthy?" Doug brought home sushi (Tuna) for lunch. I really like California Rolls, so I went straight to my points check book. I needed to see if the rolls were too high in points. Actually, it wasn't that bad (4 rolls are 3 pts.). I tried one roll, but I didn't think it was point worthy. Doug saw me put the rest back in the refridgerator. He laughed at me because I wouldn't eat the other 3.

I haven't been able to walk at our little trail because of all the rain we've had for the past couple of weeks. On top of that it doesn't look like we're going to get a break from the rain and thunderstorms any time soon. I checked the 7 day forecast this morning and they are still predicting rains and storms on into next week.

This will Katie and Colton in a few months! HA HA!

Cullman County Fair Parade
As you know from my past posts. Katie's school will be walking in tomorrow's County Fair Parade. Unfortunately, I'm afraid they'll have to walk without Katie. I'm sure it's safe and nothing will happen, but Doug and I are a little uneasy about Katie walking along the vehicle, throwing out candy. I'm sure they would allow parents to walk along with the children, but we still feel uneasy about the whole thing. You must follow your instincts. Right? A year or two ago, a little girl was hit by a vehicle while walking along and throwing out candy. We don't want to take any chances after what happened with the little girl. You know what I mean? If they were going to put the children up on a float, while parents walked, I will be willing. Plus, let's not forget the rain that's predicted for tomorrow.

Cullman City's Octoberfest Celebration
Our annual Octoberfest Celebration will be here very soon. This year's celebration will be from October 3rd to October 10th (I think). There will be Arts & Crafts, German Food and other Festivities every day between these days. Of course, let's not forget the Haystack People that Katie loves to see when we drive by. Remember last year, she had to have her picture taken with them. So cute!

Catching Up . . .

Here Grows Colton
I haven't given you any updates on Colton in awhile, I wanted to let you know that he is still here. HA HA! He is probably the most pampered baby boy because Katie and I always uhh and ahh over him. Like Katie, he seems to be the happiest little baby (always smiling). You can't help but smile back at him, when he grins at you and with those smilin' eyes. It just brings joy to my heart. He is a very loved little boy.

I think I told you that he started rolling over when he turned 4 months old. This month, he has been reaching for things and especially to gesture being picked up. HA HA! He has a very healthy appetite. Normally, he eats 6 oz. of milk every 4 hours (still) and eats a stage 2 jar of baby food (yes, a whole jar) 3 times a day. I think he is going through another BIG growing phase because for the past several days, he's been waking up at night. He'll drink down 6-7 oz. of milk like there's no tomorrow and go back out (like a light). He was giving me some trouble (sleeping and clingy) these past few days. Well, I guessed that it was his teeth giving him problems. From what I saw this morning, I guessed correctly. One of his bottom teeth is finally poking through. Right now, all you see is a white spot on his gum. He loves to sit up, but still doesn't have enough strength to stay up for long. I'll prop him up and slowly he'll fall down onto his face. He tries so hard to sit up and stay up. I think I'm going to take out his bassinet in his Pack 'n Play, so he can start practicing more. I remember when Katie was at that age, I did the same thing to her. She thought she was big stuff, sitting up and playing with her toys. Colton will be 6 months old the 27th of September. I love it when they are at that age, so cute. It seems like their personality really comes shining through.

Crafts
I got an "Oriental Trading" magazine in the mail the other day. They have so many cute and neat crafts for small children. I'd like to purchase a couple for Katie and I to tackle. I really like the 3D "Tree of Thanks" centerpiece. CLICK HERE TO CHECK THEM OUT ONLINE. I can't find the 3D "Tree of Thanks" online, but here's one similar.

Katie Story
According to Doug, Katie saw my Mr. Clean Eraser box. She told Doug that she knew that man (pointing at the Mr. Clean picture). Doug asked her if it was Chuck (friend). "Yeah! That's Chuck" she said. So Chuck, I'll guess you'll be known as the "Mr. Clean" guy from now on. LOL!

Political Update
I wanted to post this last weekend, but I've been a little wrapped up. My recent post have been a little vague because I've been in a hurry with life in general. Right now, Katie is playing sweetly in her room. Colton is sound asleep (for right now) and Doug is on the phone with Henry (Fantasy Football).

I hope you were able to watch "The 912 Project Special" on FOX Network. It aired Saturday afternoon and it was hosted by my favorite commentator, Glenn Beck. I apologize for not reminding you about it. I was able to DVR it and all I can say is WOW! Buddy, I'm afraid Obama and his administration has awoken a sleeping giant for real. They scanned cameras from the Capital and it was a sea of people. Below is a clip of the aired special.

What is with Congress?
Sure, I don't agree with Sen. Joe Wilson (R) telling Pres. Obama, during his speech, that he was a liar. What was he lying about? Well, Pres. Obama was stating during a speech to Congress that no where in the proposed Healthcare bill does it state that illegal immigrants will be eligible for Health Insurance. Well, it may not say that specifically, but there are loop holes that were amended from the original bill. Loop holes that will make it possible for the illegal immigrants to be covered. Think about it, what hospital or doctor is going to turn away a sick or injured person?

Since the embarassing moment for Sen. Wilson, he has apologized to Pres. Obama and he has accepted. Water under the bridge. Right? Well, with the help of former Pres. Jimmy Carter, he wants to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Pres. Jimmy Carter is saying that Sen. Wilson's outburst was "an act based on racism." It went on as far as Sen. Wilson being rebuked Tuesday in a House vote for his conduct during the Presidental Speech to Congress. The rebuke was for "a rare resolution of disapproval pushed by Democrats who insisted that Wilson violated basic rules of decorum and civility. Republicians characterized the measure as a witch hunt and Wilson, who had already apologized to Pres. Obama, insisted he owed the House no apology." Com'on! Can we not get back to what's more important? The Demos are making this Wilson thing such a BIG issue, when they need to be investigating their own party members, like Rangel. Sen. Rangel had a memory lapse and just forgot to file taxes on the millions of dollars he profited. Oh, don't worry. He's worked things out with the IRS and is willing to pay the outstanding taxes, but he will not be charged any penalty fees. You can not tell me that if you or I were in the same situation that the IRS would let me off without paying the penalty fees. The Government Corruption has to STOP!

Congress is doing one thing right - FINALLY! Majority of Congress voted to stop all financial aid to ACORN temporarily, so a criminal investigation can be underway. If you've missed the past couple of weeks, 4 different ACORN facilities were caught on camera assisting in ways to financially aid in several crimes. An undercover grad student and film maker went to 4 different ACORN organizations (Baltimore, Washington DC, California & New York). They posed as a pimp and prostitute. They were requesting financial aid in order to run a functioning "Cat House" with illegal aliens, are minors (12-15 years old) I might add, to live there and "perform tricks." The ACORN assistants were all willing to help and even giving tax information advice on how to avoid the IRS from being suspicious in the whole act. Needless to say, ACORN fired 4 employees (caught in the act) and filed a law suit against FOX Network and the parties involved in this undercover sting. ACORN's arguement is the undercover persons are committing a crime by filming someone that didn't give consent to be filmed. What? They added that the films were doctored and is all false. If this is the case, why did they fire the 4 employees involved? Go figure! Here's an interview of the undercover student, Hannah, and film maker by The New York Post.

We've got to stop this act! You can help by contacting your Congressman.

Abortion, Another Loop Hole In The Healthcare Reform
Sen. Bart Stupak (D-MI)is trying to get a meeting with Pres. Obama regarding the "controversay over Abortion and the Healthcare Reform." During his speech to Congress, Pres. Obama stated that in no way will the right to an Abortion will be included in the proposed Healthcare Reform bill. He may not have said "you lie," but Sen. Stupak has to disagree with Obama. Sen. Stupak is a moderate Democrat that is Pro-Life and wants this part of the bill taken out or have the House pass his bill to never have Abortions covered under any Healthcare Reform. Unfortunately, his bill was denied. Hear his interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly.

Prayer Request Updates

Prayer Request Updates
Shannon P. - (Cancer)he is still in Tennessee. He underwent a bone morrow transplant this past Tuesday. He's not doing good. He came down with a fever yesterday and he's not suppose to have a high temperature for a week. The doctor didn't want to see this happen. Shannon's parents and wife are staying in an apartment close to the hospital. I'm assuming it's an apartment provided by the hospital, sometimes they do that for extreme cases. Please continue to lift Shannon and the family up in your prayers.

Beth M. - (Breast Cancer)she has been undergoing radiation. This last time that she had her radiation treatment, it really got her burned up. Please continue to lift Beth up in your prayers. May God give her at least some relief.

Mom - she seems to continue to improve every time I see her. Her and dad came over for a little bit tonight. I noticed right off the bat, she was standing taller and more straight this time. She didn't seem so tired and out of breathe. Sure, she still may loose her balance at times, but she gets right back straight again. WONDERFUL! Dad thinks it's time for her to start driving again. She is so nervous because it's been well over a year since she's drove. I think it's a great idea. I tried to encourage her by telling her to just start out slow. Maybe she could drove around the driveway, then down the road and back. You have to crawl before you can walk. And you have to walk before you can run. Right? She went back to the doctor this past week. There have been questions that she might have Parkinson's Disease because of her trembling in her hand. The doctor looked her over and had her do a few things and confirmed that she only has a type of Parkinson's that is brought on by the drug Raglan. She took this drug for quite sometime for indigestion, while in the hospital and nursing home. When she finally came home for good this last time, we noticed that she was still taking them and she had no symptoms of indigestion or heartburn. So, we threw them out. It wasn't long before she began to have the shaky arm. Now, I see tons of advertisements about the side effects of Raglan. Ugh! The doctor assured mom that she will not be getting worse. In fact, she asked dad if he could see improvement in mom or her getting worse. He agreed that he could tell a huge improvement with mom's motor skills. Him saying this confirmed her analysis. Bottomline, mom will either stay the same or improve (shaky hand/arm) with time. I'm just so proud of her and her accomplishments. Thank you for all of your prayers. She has felt them and God has definitely heard them all. Please continue to pray for her continual improvement.

Katie - I think the honeymoon is over when it comes to school and ballet. I was so hoping it would wait until half of the year is gone before we got to this point. Well I kinda suspected this a week ago Friday, but I was so hoping it was because she didn't get a good night's sleep. The child likes to stay up late, no matter how early I put her to bed, I can't make her sleep. This is something, both her and I are still working on. Well last Wednesday, she cried going to school. She didn't want to go because she was "scared." She started this "scared" phase a couple of months ago. She got to where she was scared to go to Sunday School class and she would go with us to church. After awhile, she would have enough of church and she would be ready to go to class. Now, she's doing it with school and ballet. Last week, I had to drag her to school and walk her to her class because she cried and that she was "scared." Friday, she finally told me that she was scared because she didn't think her little friends (she plays with) were in class. Honestly, I think she's afraid she's going to miss something. She wants to come with me to see what I'm going to do and then if it's too boring like sitting inside a big building, listening to the preacher, she's ready to go to class. How do I nip this? I don't want to discourage her, but in the same sense, I don't want her to think she can have it both ways. Which is what she is getting right now! She does the same thing with ballet. She cries and makes it difficult for me to get her ready. I have to listen to her all the way to the studio and she sticks to me like glue until she can find a friend to play with. After all of that, then she's perfectly fine and ready to go practice. When I pick her up from school or ballet, she tells me that she still love it and wants to come back the next day. So, it's not like I'm forcing her to do something she doesn't want to do. I'm so hoping this is just a temporary phase, she must be going through. I just hope it stops SOON! Where's my calgon? I need my calgon!

Me - As you know, I'm starting back on Weight Watchers tomorrow. Ugh! I'm going to try to go with a positive attitude and spirit with this decision because I'm getting unhealthy day by day. I just hope I'm not at the point of no return, that would be pretty depressing. I have a plan set and I've got my snacks handy. All I need is God to carry me through this ordeal and I know he will. Please pray that God will bless me with his strength and power to reach my ideal (healthy) weight. Thank you!

Chick-fil-a Meal
For those of you that live in Cullman and like to eat at Chick-fil-a, please go by Chick-fil-a in Cullman from 3PM-9PM on September 17th. I think for every meal you purchase at Chick-fil-a during that time, a donation will go to Katie's school, Covenant School. Please help out our school and enjoy a great chicken sandwich.

Fair Parade
September 19th will be Cullman's big Fair Parade. Covenant School has decided to participate in the parade, so be looking for me and Katie. Maybe she can throw you a piece of candy. According to one report the parade should start at 2PM. If the time is different, I'll let you know.

P.F. Changs

I have to share pictures of our couples night out from last weekend. Of course, Doug thinks it's silly, but I like to share our special night.

The food was delicious! Wayne and I had their Changs Spicy Chicken; Doug had their Changs Dali Chicken (very HOT) and I think Laura had the Sweet and Sour Chicken. We all had their famous Lettuce Wraps with chicken and special sauce. I love the special sauce. For dessert, we had small samples of apple pie, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate cake with raspberry glaze and red velvet cake. I was stuffed by the time we left. We had such a good time.

A Visit With Kay
Peggy gave us a surprising phone call this morning, telling us that Kay drove up last night. I haven't seen Kay in a few years, so this was a nice surprise. We went to Millard and Peggy's for supper (Papa Murphy's Pizza) and football games. I say this plural because Alabama wasn't on regular television/satellite, so we ended up listen to Eli Gold on the radio and watching Auburn vs. Mississippi State on TV. Our neighbor gave us half of a HUGE watermelon, so I took it with us for dessert. Needless to say, all I seemed to do while we were there was EAT! Of Dear Lord Above, I hope and pray that I will find will power in the weeks to come on this diet. Yesterday, I grabbed a few Smart Ones meals from Piggly Wiggly, they were going 2 for $4. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Happenings

Covenant School 2009-2010 ~ Pre-K4 (not everyone is in this picture)

L-R: Katie, Claire, Olivia, ? (Katie doesn't know who this is)

I forgot to show you Katie's Field Trip pictures. We went to Spradlin Farm at West Point to pick apples. To be honest, I think the best apples were already picked because the ones we found were in pretty bad shape. Katie was proud of them, so I let her buy a few. We also bought a few tomatoes, homemade chocolate chip cookies & homemade strawberry ice cream. Yummy! I think Katie had a good time out picking apples with her school buddies.

Katie & Alise had so much fun riding around in the Barbie Jeep

Alise had to have a little help from Millard getting started

Anthony is sporting his famous apple pie. Man is this pie delicious! It has just the right amount of spices.

It's almost too pretty to eat. Thank goodness, he made two. (TEHE!)

Wayne said these shrimp came fresh from the Gulf. Yummy! They were so good!

Alise got to hold baby Colton. I think she will make a wonderful big sister one day. (hint, hint)

Prayer Request
I've been asking prayer for Kellie C., she is my sister's niece. She had to have a hysterectomy today. She said that it went real good and she's fine, just sore. Please keep her in your prayers that God might heal her as soon as possible. Bless her heart, she's been in a lot of pain for a few years.

I've got a praise report. Kellie's grandmother, Faye, I've been asking prayers for got a good report. The knot in her neck isn't cancer. Shoo! The test came back and they are almost positive that it's not cancer. She has an appointment with a surgeon on the 21st to find out more information. Thank you for all the prayers and please keep her on your list. I will pass along information as it comes to me.

Weight Watchers
I haven't officially started my diet yet, but me and the children set out for a good walk around the community trails this afternoon. I couldn't walk as brisk as I had planned because Katie decided that she didn't want to ride her bike today. Nope! Instead, she wanted to take her baby doll for a stroll as well. Her doing this caused me to take extra precaution with her walking so close to me. She wouldn't walk behind or beside me. Oh no, she had to walk in front of me or on top. I just knew I was going to run up on her heels with Colton's stroller. My stroller wheel caught her stroller wheel and almost caused her to wreck. I warned her then that it was a bad idea to get so close to Colton's stroller. Do ya think she listened? You got it! NO! Poor baby, I was proud of her because she made it around the trail twice with me. All she cared about is playing at the small playground. She couldn't hardly wait to get on the slide. My plan is to walk for 30 minutes every day or at least every other day, depending on how my children are feeling. It's best to start fresh on Monday morning with the weigh in and find out my weight loss goal. Plus, I want all this GOOD food out of my house by Monday morning. This way, there won't be that many temptations. I've got to find my WW soup recipe and get that fixed because I know I'll need it. While breastfeeding, my doctor put me on a 2400 calorie diet and it's been very hard to get that fat off plus not feel so starved. Please pray for me. If I see I need help, it just so happens that I received a free WW registration fee coupon in the mail yesterday. It's not good until the end of this month. Honestly, once I get that soup made, I'm sure I'll be okay. The soup is like zero points and it's really good, I won't feel so starved.

ACORN Corruption Revealed
I don't know if you caught the ACORN video, when a young prostitute & pimp walks in a local ACORN organization requesting assistance in a loan to buy a house. The pimp and prostitute make it very clear to the ACORN employees that they want to buy a house to house prostitutes from El Salvador that are around the ages of 13-14. The employees don't bat an eye. In fact, they assist the couple in ways to dodge tax investigations, basically lie. You'd just have to watch the video to get your own opinion. The only media that is following this and other Obama Administration Staff is the FOX Network. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO & LEARN MORE. Glenn Beck is also another great source when it comes to the corruption on Capital Hill. You can watch Beck on the FOX network at 4 PM (CST) every day. CLICK HERE, to check out Glenn Beck's website.

I'm sure you're aware that Cass Sustein was confirmed today as our "Regulatory Czar." What does a "Regulatory Czar" really do? Well, beings I can't find a common definition of this description, I did find the meaning of the word "regulatory." According to Dictionary.com, "regulatory" meanings: to control or direct by rule, principle or method. To adjust to some standard or requirement.

I've heard a lot of controversy about Mr. Cass Sustein. For one that he is such an animal advocate that he would like to see a bill passed that would allow an animal to sue his owner. Now, I like animals just like the next person, but are we going a little too far with this method of direction? He also wants it to outlaw all types of hunting of animals for food or sport. I have one thing to say, there goes the environment! Another thing that I really don't like is to regulate the air waves. This includes television, radio and internet. If he sees that the conversations are too conservative and right winged, he can have the power to pull the plug. I ask you, does this seem fair? He sure thinks so. It reminds me of when the current Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had the internet shut down. I'm sure you remember this because it wasn't that long ago. After it was offical that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was announced president, there was a big up roar. The Iranians were saying that the vote was rigged. They began videoing the riots and protesting and displaying it on YouTube. Well, as soon as the new president got word, he snapped his finger and all the internet access was gone. I don't want that to happen here and I don't think the rest of the US wants that either.

My word, we finally get a Marxist like Van Jones out of office just to see another loon going in. I haven't investigated all the current Czars, but so far I've got a bad taste in my mouth. I will continue to pray for our president, Lord knows he needs the prayers.

Our Labor Day Weekend

First of all, I'd like to give a BIG

ROLL TIDE!
to all my Tide Buddies. What a game! I couldn't hoot and holler too much because I was trying to get Colton to sleep, but it was a very exciting game. As most of you know, our cousins, Wayne, Laura and Alise, came up from LA to visit us for the Labor Day weekend. We enjoyed them so much and will miss them terrible until next time.

Saturday, we had a BIG family fish fry with all the Horton family. My goodness the FOOD! We had fish, shrimp, hot dogs, slaw, baked beans, hush puppies, onion rings, fries, desserts, desserts, and desserts. There was so much food leftover. Unfortunately, I'm the only one in my immediate family that likes shrimp (fried and boiled). Wayne and Laura left all this shrimp for me to eat. First of all, I don't think it can be done and secondly, my doctor isn't going to appreciate my already high cholestrol going higher. Ooops! Oh well, it's so good. I need to know from my fellow bloggers if I can freeze the boiled shrimp. There's so much of it, I'd hate to see it waste. Does anyone else like shrimp out there? If you do, come by and let me give you some.

Katie stayed the night with Alise at Millard and Peggy's house. Those girls acted as if they picked up where they left off. I think they get along so well together, just like sisters. We got so tickled at them playing with one another. I wish you could have heard the conversations. By the way, Laura - I'm sorry that my daughter was the first to tell your daughter "where babies come from." Ooops! At least you won't have to think about how to address the matter with her because she knows now. HA HA! At least it's a rated G description. HA HA! I've got so many pictures and some video that I've got to post from this weekend. It'll probably take me all week to tell the stories. Shoo!

Sunday, Wayne, Laura, Doug and myself went out on a date. It took us back to the days, we didn't have children yet. We checked in on Peggy and Millard often, to see if the children were behaving. Everyone was good except for Colton. I think his teeth are really giving him problems, cutting. Bless his heart, he gets no rest and there are times where he can't enjoy eating his dinner. All Peggy could do was comfort him. I hate it that he was giving her such trouble, but do appreciate the day off. Laura and I did a little shopping and was able to catch a few good sales. We had lunch at our favorite pizza place, "Mellow Mushroom" (yum) and supper at our favorite Chinese restaurant, "P.F. Chang's". Laura and I were making pictures of our meal at P.F. Chang's and we caught the guys rolling their eyes at us. Of course, them doing this caused me to make more pictures. I thought it was funny. I haven't downloaded those pictures yet, so I'll have to post that at another time.

Yesterday, we helped Millard and Peggy clean up, what they had left for us to help them with, and bring stuff back home. We were so tired last night!

I think we all pretty much dragged out of bed this morning. I know I didn't want to get up. Thank goodness, Colton let me sleep in until close to 7 AM. We had to get back into the groove this afternoon by taking Katie to ballet. She had a couple new little girls in her class; therefore, closing the class. One mom brought her daughter in to observe. she said that another class might be starting up because there are no more available spots on both (Tuesday and Thursday classes)days. I tell you what, Katie loves her ballet class. She hates it when she doesn't go to class. I think she would go every day, if we let her. Thank goodness for me, it's only one day a week. I don't think I could make it every day.

I'll be posting pictures, so be watching for them throughout the week. Hope to hear you had a wonderful and safe Labor Day.

Katie Get's A New Bicycle

As you know, I took Katie this morning to pick out her first real bicycle. She was so excited. She was concerned about her pink bike. She told me, as I was getting ready for the day, "well, the bike won't fit inside the truck. Where are you going to put it?" I explained to her about laying it in the bed of the truck. "Oh" she said in relief. As we were pushing the bike to the truck she asked, "will it blow out?" I assured her that it wouldn't blow out because I was going to lay it down on it's side. "But it won't hurt it laying like that. Will it?" she asked. I reassured her that nothing would happen to it and she could check on it as we drive off. She felt more at ease. Shoo! I was thinking that maybe she'll leave me alone now. Nope, not going to happen just yet. All the way to mom and dad's, she'd give me minute-by-minute updates on how her bicycle was doing. Well, I must have hit the brake a little harder than I thought when I came to a stop sign. I heard the bike move up towards the cab of the truck. I had an idea of where it was, but Katie didn't and buddy did she ever let me know about it. "WHERE'S MY BIKE? MOM, MY BIKE IS GONE! WHERE IS IT?" she asked frantically. Before the tears began to whale up in her eyes, I explained about me pressing the brakes too hard and that the bike scooted up. "ARE YOU SURE?" she asked with a quiver in her voice. "Yes" I replied as to reassure her once again. She felt much better. As soon as we reached mom and dad's house, she was eager to check it out.

She rode her bike for a good while and she did fairly well, I might add. Dad helped her out a lot, while I took care of Colton and visited with mom. We all had our camera's out taking pictures, like a couple of crazy people. Dad went as far as getting out his bike and riding around the driveway with her. Katie liked that idea and encouraged my dad to ride with her. If he rode his bike, she would ride hers right along with him. It was a sweet picture. He told me that he thought if she could see the way he was pedaling his bike, then she would understand better. It must of worked because she did pretty good. There was a time or two where she needed help and couldn't get it started or got in a tough spot. I guess she fell about 3 times. Thank goodness for her helmet and pads or I'd have one banged up little girl on my hands. Oh, she'd cry and carry on when she fell off, but it wouldn't be long before she was asking to go ride again. We all tried to encourage her to get back up on the bike and try again. I think it mostly hurt her feelings and made her mad. I know, if I get stuck on something and can't quite figure it out, I get frustrated and mad as well. One thing about it, I never give up and it looks like she doesn't either. Here are a few pictures I took today:

ARE YOU READY?

Who ever put this video together did a fantastic job. Kudos! It got me a little excited and pumped. Finbaum stated tonight on FOX 6 Sports News that Bama is looking to have a great defensive team this year. I just hope we have a superb offensive team to go along with the defense. By the way, Saban reported that Deaderick is still doing good, but will not be playing this weekend. Honestly, I didn't expect him to anyway.
