Easter Wreath

This bunny has been busy, busy preparing for Easter. A while back, my cousin Laura, posted this wreath with hopes to get one made up.  She got the idea from another blogger/crafter. 

Kristen's Creations posted this beautiful wreath tutorial last month and I fell in love with it.  Fortunately for me, I found just about everything that she used for this wreath at Hobby Lobby for half price.  Yes, I purchased everything shown for half the price.  There is quite a bit of work time to get everything just right.  This is a large grapevine wreath.  I worked on it during my spare time (ha), so it took me approximately 3-4 days to complete.  It turned out to be much bigger than I thought it would be, but I love it.  At first, I wanted to display this Easter greeting on my front door.  Uh huh, not going to happen because it's too big and thick. 

Kristen displayed daisies with her wreath.  As much as I love daisies, I thought it would be special to display the dogwood instead.  If I could have found small white Easter lilies, I probably would have added them too.  Instead, I used dainty pink and lavender Spring flowers. 

I liked the lavender mesh ribbon that Kristen used, but they were out of stock, so I used baby blue.  It doesn't show in the photo, but I found that the mesh ribbon to be quite cumbersome to work with.  In Kristen's instructions, she states to cut the ribbon 1 yard in length strips to tie around the wreath.  Well, my problem with that was the ribbon wanted to unravel right where I just cut it.  I was beginning to worry that I had made a mistake.  After I finished the project, I went back over it and just trimmed where it was needed.  It looks much better and I'm pleased. 

Katie had a fit when she got home this afternoon to see our wreath.  Beings it is too big for the front door, I've placed it on our Dining Room wall.  The same wall that I'm trying to find the perfect mirror for under $100.  LOL!

Easter Weekend

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter weekend. Ours was eventful, full of laughter, food and lots of Easter eggs to hunt.

Red-Velvet Egg Bon-Bons

I thought these bunny cut out sugar cookies turned out cute.  I got the idea from "Tidy Mom". She has some of the neatest ideas, you'll have to check her out.

I found this Easter tree at Hobby Lobby for 50% off.  I've always wanted to have an Easter egg tree for inside the house.  I've never seen one like this one, it's so soft.

Shocked was the first thing going through my mind when Katie insisted that she wanted her picture taken with the Easter bunny. Then, I was surprised when Colton didn't get upset once I sat him on the bunny's lap. In fact, we couldn't get Colton to stop playing with the bunny's face long enough to get him to look at the camera. As you can see, we did get him to look at the camera once, but no smile. This is all he was going to give us, which isn't much. Actually, I'd rather him just look at us than crying the whole time.

Tomorrow, I plan on staying at home and baking.  Yay!  I was going to bake tonight, but I was so ate up with the laziness.  I didn't feel like doing anything once we got home from the school tour.  Doug took off yesterday and today, so he got most of his "to-do's" finished.  I bought a red-velvet cake mix and icing.  I might make some Red-Velvet Eggs for Sunday. 

Easter Egg Hunt

I was actually able to make time for these gems to pass out at the School Easter Party. I had so much fun marblizing the icing on the cookies and it was so simple. After I baked the cookies, I guess I spent about 3 hours more or less decorating a little over 2 dozen cookies the night before the party.

Well they are not professional looking by no means. But I thought they looked pretty good since that was the first time I've ever done something like this.

I think the kids had a great party. Of course, there was too much food because a lot of it got thrown away. A couple of the parents hid the eggs in the school playground.  The kids were so excited!

Egg Dying Experience
Mom wanted Katie to come over and dye eggs with her.  Katie was getting aggravate with me because I wanted to stay on mom's back porch and visit.  The weather was so nice, warm.  Katie kept begging us to go inside the house.  She told us that it was too cold.  Ugh!  Mom figured she just wanted to get started on the eggs.  So, they got started while I visited with June and Nic.  I am so jealous of him because he is so tan.  His school isn't very far from the beach, so he pretty much gets to go whenever he wants.  He actually just got back last week and is planning on going back very soon.  As he is rubbing it in my face, I told him that's alright because I'm going this year.  Yay!

Colton's New Toy
I want to personally thank Wayne & Laura for this Harley Davidson motorcycle. His Aunt Sandy and Uncle Wade will be proud because they are big Harley fans.  He seems to like it, when he gets to ride it. Katie really likes it and is so glad that Colton received it for a gift.

Colton Update
Colton had his 1 year check up today. He is doing great! He weighs 20 pounds, I think he lost a little weight since he came down with the virus a few weeks ago. He is 31 inches long and is 78 percentile on his overall growth. Poor baby had to have 4 shots, he is so grumpy this afternoon.  We won't have to go back until he's 15 months old. 

We tried making it to Jon's ballgame.  A lot of the family showed up for support.  After awhile, I kind of wished I had stayed home with Colton.  It was hot and he as tired, not feeling good.  Between all the women in our family, he stayed satisfied long enough to last all 7 innings.
