Nice Evening With The Love Of My Life

Happy Leap Year!

I had another hard time getting Katie to stay in her bed last night. I think she finally gave it up around 11:45. Around 2:30 a.m., I felt her climbing in bed with us. I was too tired to care if she slept with us or not. Doug let us sleep in this morning. Around 9:00, Doug and I went in and pounced on Katie still sleeping in the bed. She is a lot like Momma because she likes to stay up late at night and sleep late in the morning. Even after we were aggravating her in the bed, tickling and picking at her, she still wanted to sleep. Lazy bones!

Whitney got in from school last night for the weekend. She called us up this morning to see if we were going to be home. Doug wanted to go running around town, so I thought it would be a good time to do a little girl talk. As always, I enjoyed her visiting us. We had a lot of catching up to do with school, friends, Zayne (boyfriend) and life in general. I think we have good times together. I just hate it that she lives so far away. Hopefully one day, she'll be able to move a little closer to home. Her boyfriend, Zayne, graduates UNA on May 10th. Yeah, it's the same day as Doug's birthday party. She hopes that they'll be able to make our party because Zayne's little sister, Nia, has a recital that afternoon. She said that he is counting down the days to his graduation and how she has to remind him to do his homework. Ha! Katie aggravated Whitney to death the whole time she was here. Katie plays so rough, I have to calm her down. I believe I put her in time out twice while Whitney was here. Whit has the cutest long haired dachsund, Layla. Well, it sounds like Layla is being a pistol here lately. She keeps her in her bedroom, while she is gone to class during the day. It seems that Layla gets into new trouble every night. The latest news is that she got into Whit's DVD movies and tore them all up. I felt so bad for Whit because she seems to be at wits end with her.

After Whitney left to pick up Natalie, Millard and Peggy drove in to pick up Katie for the night. I felt bad for them because Katie had not taken a nap all day. She was too wound up when Whitney was here to go to sleep. I made her sit on the couch by Whit to rest, but eventually she'd be on top of the couch or sneak off and go playing. I suspect she was out as soon as they hit the road to go to their house. Katie was so excited to go spend the night with her G'ma and PawPaw. She grabbed up her dolls and told everyone that she was ready to go.

Doug and I had a nice evening together. We started out sitting on the same couch together watching TV. We snuggled while watching "Under The Tuscan Sun" starring Diane Lane. I just love this movie and I couldn't believe Doug picked this movie out of our collection to watch. He wanted to go to the movie theater to watch "Fool's Gold," but we really didn't have the money and besides I enjoy snuggling on the couch. You're not able to talk in a movie theater like you can in the luxury of your own home. I had planned to make Chicken Parmigiana, but he wanted to go out to eat Mexican. I really didn't have the taste for Mexican, but I agreed. I got the tostada & spicy chicken burrito and I have to say it was real good. Doug was so happy that he got to eat Mexican food. When we got back home, he hit the couch and I grabbed the computer and chair. I told him that I guess we're back to being an old married couple. I guess it's good for our relationship to do this ever so often. I don't know about Doug, but I really did enjoy myself.

"Dr. Suess' Horton Hears A Who" comes out to theaters on March 14th. I would love to take Katie to see this movie. We may have to make a Matinee beings that she has never been to the theater. Watching the previews, it sounds like it would be pretty funny especially with Jim Carrey and Steve Carell as the main character voices.

June came by the house today during her lunch hour. We had a nice visit. She filled me in on Nicholas' Senior Year, what she could for Katie talking her ear off. Once Katie got warmed up to June, she had to show and tell her everything. It sounds like Nicholas is going through the same things we went through during our Senior year - hormones and attitudes flying all over the place. I believe it's one of the toughest experiences in life to have to go through.

Katie and I caught a ride with Dad to see Mom at the rehab clinic. I have to say in my own personal opinion, she is doing great and continues to improve every day. Of course, she still has her good days and bad days. Her bladder is slowly working again and is able to go to the potty on her own a little more now. They put a catheter in her a couple of times today to make sure she is draining herself good. The doctor told her the more active she becomes the more her bladder will get back into functioning normally. Katie wasn't all that bad in Mom's room, but she was extremely curious. I only had to put her in time out twice.

Katie and I visited June, Nicholas and Pat as soon as we got back to Mom and Dad's house. I hated that I missed American Idol tonight, but we've got it TiVo'd. I knew June and them watched AI, so I had to ask who got voted off. She said Alaina and Alexandre were the girls, Ronnie and Michael were the boys to be sent home. I couldn't hardly believe Michael Johns got voted off. I told June about the terrible time I'm having getting Katie to stay in her bed during the night. I'll put her to bed at 9:00 and she'll still try to sneak into our bedroom from 9:00-11:30. It can be exhausting for me. She told me that Nicholas would do the same thing. Of course, she said "it was so cute how he would sneak down the hallway." I asked her if she thought it was cute at the time and she said no. She laughed and said that he gradually got over it. Well that's encouraging that she will stop doing this by the time she's 17 years old. I guess we got back home around 9:00 tonight. We are both exhausted, so you would think Katie would sleep real good because her nap was an overall 30 minutes at the most. Nope! We are going on 2 hours of "Katie get to bed and stay in bed." Every time Doug and I get on to her about not going to bed, she comes up with her 100 excuses as to why she can't go to bed. For instance, she has a booger on her finger, she just got up so she's not tired, she needs a tissue, she's not tucked in good enough, and my head's not covered up.

American Idol

Okay, American Idol has got to get better soon. Why is it, they make these kids sing songs from the 60s & 70s? Some of the songs, they've never heard of them before. This was the case last night with the guys. Tonight, the girls picked all the wrong songs that didn't fit their vocals. I guess out of all the girls, Carly, Ramiele and Brooke were good. I thought Kady and Asia'h was alright, but not great. Doug answered my question from last week. He said Amanda Overmyer sounds a lot like Janice Joplin. That's who she reminds me of when she sings.

Who do you think will be voted off tomorrow night? I don't how many contestants will be sent home during tomorrow's elimination. If it is the same as last week, my vote is as follows:
  1. Danny (hopefully)
  2. Colton
  3. Alexandrea
  4. Alaina or Amanda

Doug wanted me to make you aware of a devoted Alabama fan's blog, Alabama Game Day. http://www.alabamagameday.net/.

Katie and I decided to have our fashion show today. She had a blast trying on all the new clothes. She is such a little girl. While putting the outfits/dresses on, she would tell me what would go on next. She'd say, "Mommy, I need my hair bow. I have to put on my shoes." She even asked me if a specific hair bow went with her outfit/dress. She is going to be fashion savvy when she is older. More pictures are on our photosite. Let me know, if you can't pull them up.

Katie likes "Angelina Ballerina" now. I introduced this character to Katie a year ago and she wasn't into her. Now that Katie is into Ballet and Ballerinas, she really likes "Angelina Ballerina." We read the book last night that I got from the Library and this morning, we watched the movie "Angelina Ballerina and The Silver Locket." I was so excited because she kept wanting to watch it again. I just love "Angelina Ballerina" and now I can share her with my little girl. In fact during the dancing parts of the movie, Katie would act out the ballerinas dancing. So cute! She told me, she wants to be a ballerina.

Picture is of Katie watching it snow. It began snowing here around 11:30 and it got pretty heavy around 1:00. It has been spitting snow off and on all day, but the ground is too warm for it to stick. It is so cold outside. I'm so welcoming warm Spring weather right now. I'm beginning to run out of ideas to do with Katie in the house. That's why we had a fashion show this morning. I got a few craft ideas from the internet for Easter. After we do a craft or two, I'll let you know if it was worth it.

Top Secret No More!

Well, Doug's done it now! He intercepted an email message between Whitney and myself, thus finding out his surprise birthday party. When he first opened it up & began reading it, I completely forgot about us discussing the party. I told him he shouldn't read my messages, while I was trying to control Katie tonight. Tonight has been a bad night getting Katie is settle down for bed. Later, I remembered telling Whit about the party and I hadn't read her reply yet. Doug was all smiles and right then I knew, he found out about the party. Ugh! I've been so careful and now I feel like such an idiot! Now, he it's bothering him as to where the party will be. For some reason, I never can keep a secret from him without him always finding out. So, he'll probably find out where the party will be in time. He is so nosey!

I've been having a small health problem, so my doctor wanted me to come into the office today for a little blood work. They took a pregnancy test and of course, I'm not. They feel I've been under a lot of stress causing my problem. They are going to run tests to see if by some chance it's my thyroid or hormones. I should know something by the end of the week. If I don't hear from them by Monday @ noon, I'm to call and check on the results.

Doug was feeling much better by last night. So he was able to go back to work today. He didn't know if he should go with me to the doctor's office, but I assured him that everything was fine. Bless his heart, he seemed to really care about my well being. I appreciate that.

I didn't get to talk to Mom tonight, but I did talk to her for a brief moment last night. She said they really worked her with rolling her in and out of bed, which made her very tired. Dad and June were still there, while I was talking with her. I didn't want to tie her up and she said she was too tired to talk on the phone. I talked with Sue to get her opinion as to how Mom was doing, since she spoke to her before I called Mom. She said that she thought she sounded okay, but tired. June called me this morning and said she was disappointed with Mom's progress yesterday. It's a long story, but Mom didn't take the blood pressure medicine they gave her and her blood pressure went up to 196 over something. June couldn't remember the bottom number. She said this is at stroke level. She said the nurses worked with Mom & got the level back down to 155 over something. She added that she had very shallow breathing. I know Susan and June was going to call Mom this evening to see how she was doing today. I told June that since I knew that both of them were going to talk with Mom tonight, I would try to wait and call her much later to check on her. Of course, my evening left and the next thing I know it's 10:00. They start her on therapy by 7:30 in the morning, so I'm going to wait until noon or 4:30 to call tomorrow. I know if something is bad wrong with Mom, Susan and June would have called me by now. I wanted Katie and myself to go visit Mom tomorrow, but I can't because I'm so far behind on laundry, dishes & banking. I just don't have enough hours in a day to do everything that needs to be done. Doug's already asking about specific articles of clothing, if they had been washed. Luckily for him, he had pants in the dryer to wear for tomorrow.

Peggy told me that if I wanted to do or go some where else after my appointment today, to go ahead that she would watch Katie. I've been getting low on my Bare Essentials Mineral Veil, I love this stuff. I thought this would be a good opportunity to get some makeup. I've been wanting to type the BE blush. I left there and wanted to check out a couple of shops that I haven't been in awhile. Shops I know I would have a hard time getting Katie out of without having to purchase something. Peggy told me that Cutie Patootie was under new management, so I wanted to check it out. Everything on their 75% sale rack had been picked over. I did get Katie a couple new hair bows and a ID tag for her backpack. Because of security reasons at church, we have to have a tag on the children's backpacks. Plus, I like the fact there's a good chance you won't be bringing someone else's sippy cup home with you. A new store opened up this past week, Kids Unlimited. I love this store! It's got everything from smock dresses (sizes: newborn-7) to dolls. They carry Rosalina, Peaches n Creme, Bonnie Jean, and a whole line of Stephen Joseph stuff. They have a complete wall with nothing but hair bows and get this, they custom make their hair bows. You can even pick out the different ribbon designs they offer, which is a lot. The prices are pretty reasonable and they offer layaway. I knew the lady that was working there from church. We spent most of the time talking. She said they get new shipments every day with all kinds of different things. I was telling her about the new outfits and dresses, Katie just got and I would like to have matching bows for a few of them. They had this one capri outfit, I would have gotten for Katie, but they didn't have her size. It's the new Paris style. I'm sure you've seen the dresses at Belk - pink dress with Eiffel Tower, black poodles and patio set all over. Well, this was very similiar. It was pink sleeveless and on the bottom of the top it was cats and dogs sitting on patio furniture all dressed up. I can't remember if it had the Eiffel Towers on them, but was so cute and only $24.97. Kati, my church friend, said for some reason that the 3T size is the first to go. Before I left I assured Kati that I would pass the word around about the new store. I told Peggy about the store and where it was located. I had one more stop before picking Katie up from Peggy and Millard's. I wanted to go by the Library, pick up a few books and DVDs for Katiebug. We've already read through 7 of the 9 books. I promised her that we would watch the movies tomorrow, since it's suppose to snow and be frigid. I got "Angelia Ballerina's Silver Locket," some kind of Dr. Seus movie and "The Velveteen Rabbit." I just love the story about the Velveteen Rabbit, I think it is such a sweet story. I've read the book to Katie several times, but it's so lengthy and I'm sure it's hard for a 2 year old to understand what's going on. I'm hoping the movie will be better at telling the story than me.

Katie seemed to have had a great time with Peggy today. I nearly had a hard time getting her to leave. Doesn't that make you feel great as a parent? lol If everything goes okay, I think they'll keep her Friday over night. We're planning to go to the Cottontail's Craft Show this weekend. Smartie Britches is suppose to be there with all of their new styles of clothes. Have you looked at their website lately? They have some cute outfits out for the Spring/Summer. They've just about completed Peggy's order for Katiebug.

American Idol
I don't think the guys did all that great tonight like they did last week. What's up? I have to say, David Archuleta did an awesome job. Right now, I feel he will make it to the top 5. I think David Hernandez, Chikeze and Michael Johns did a good job, but I really like David Cook and David Archuleta. How did you like the best?

Laura - I'm trying the Jergens Natural Glow. Was it you that recommended this, I can't remember? Today is just day three of using the lotion. Hopefully, it will work well with me and my skin tone. I noticed that they carry the facial lotion as well. Have you tried it? Let me know.

Grandparents Are A Wonderful Thing

With Doug sick, Katie was already pushing my buttons. Doug wanted sausage and eggs for breakfast this morning. As I was cooking, Katie wanted me to hold her. I tried to explain to her that I couldn't. She doesn't understand the word "no." She begins to hang on my leg and whines. The one thing I absolutely can't stand is whining and she does it so well. Then she begins the list of excuses on why she needs my attention. For instance, she needs a drink, but not milk; she's pee-peed, but runs away as soon as I get a diaper; she has a boo-boo, but continues to whine. When she pulls out all the cards, she starts them all over. I know Doug doesn't mean to but I've been holding my breath every time he coughs. He looks so pitiful! I just got over this stuff and like I was explaining to him, I can't afford getting sick again. No offense to him, but he gets paid sick leave. I don't! I'm on call to work 24 hours a day without sick leave or substitutes to fill in for me. Katie doesn't understand when Mommy gets sick, she thinks its all in fun. I was wondering how I was going to make it the rest of the day. When all of the sudden, Peggy calls me and asks if Katie could spend the day with her and Millard. YES! THANK YOU GOD FOR GRANDPARENTS! I plan to disinfect this house, even if I have to open up the house and air it out. I am sick to death with sickness. Spring - when will you get here?

Millard and Peggy brought Katie several beautiful outfits and dresses with matching bows today. Katie seem to love them all. In fact, her and I was looking at one dress from Belk that is a smocked white eyelet dress with pink rosebuds along the smock. I started to get it, but knowing Peggy I thought she might see it and get it too. We've done this before, I guess there are some things we think alike. Sure enough, it was one of the dresses Peggy bought. I guess this next week, Katie and I will have to have another fashion show. Today, Katie had to wear her new favorite yellow shirt with the matching headband. She wanted to wear her new sandals, but it's too cold. Plus, I got a size 8 in the sandals so she'll be able to wear them all Summer; therefore, they are a little big on her right now.

I called Liz and checked on Jake. She said that the doctors think he had a little cut and it got infected, which caused the abscess. They are glad to be back home. He is on antibiotics for the infection and doing well.

I just got off the phone with Mom and she seems to be doing well. She got back from therapy around 1:30 and was ready to take a nap.

Prayer Request - Jake!

Prayer Request
I read Nolan's blog this morning and noticed that Jake was rushed to the hospital late last night. According to his blog, when Jake took his tubby, Liz noticed an abscess on his rectum. They were going to wait and take him to the doctor this morning, but then he began running a fever. Today, the doctors drained the infection and they want him to stay in the hospital for a couple of days. I emailed Sandy to find out if the doctors are going to run test on it and what caused it. I promised Nolan that I would call to check on him, but Katie and I didn't get back home until 9:30 p.m. and stayed on the phone until 10:00 p.m. I didn't think Sandy nor Nolan would appreciate me calling so late. Hopefully, Sandy will email me tomorrow and keep me up-to-date. I emailed one of our MOMs leaders from church to get a prayer chain started for Jake. Please keep Jake and his parents in your prayers. I can't imagine what they might be going through. I'm sure this is very upsetting and worry-some.

Katie and I rushed through the house cleaning like mad, so we could have an evening of Mommy-Daughter time. We got dressed up and went shopping. As I told you yesterday, Gymboree was having a great baby sale. Katie picked out a cute baby doll style yellow shirt with different colored flowers all over it. It's from the Rainbow collection. She told me, it was her favorite. I went ahead and got the matching cloth headband. I have to say, this outfit is adorable on her. I didn't think it would have been this cute. If Katie will keep the cloth headbands on, I would love to keep them on her all Summer. I just don't know if she will or not. I think the plastic headbands hurt her head. I know they do me that way. Personally, I like the cloth better. She wanted a turtle shirt and I would have loved to get her one, but the one I liked the most wasn't on sale. It was a 3T, but it was in the bigger girl's section of the store. It's a green and white striped tank top with a turtle on the front with rhinestones. Katie really liked it, but I didn't see paying $19.50 for it. I also wanted to get this pink lollipop with rhinestones shirt, so cute. It wasn't on sale either. I guess, we'll wait. They were out of 3T in the green ice cream smocked shirt, but the sales clerk let me order it on the phone. I didn't know they did that. Where you can order something that they don't have in stock and they will ship it to your address, not charging you for shipping. I did get the "Hippity Hoppity" bunnies and barrettes that match. I let Katie take out some of her money out of her Piggy Bank to spend on whatever she wanted today. I've never let her do that until today. I don't think she understood fully, but she enjoyed picking out everything she wanted. We were disappointed in Disney. I think they are in between the Winter-Spring change. The only thing Katie really wanted was a Snow White cup with straw for $2.99. We are gradually getting away from sippy cups and going to regular small cups and cups with straws. She likes to tell me what cup she wants to drink out of every day. She has been known to change her mind several times throughout the day. Girls! At The Children's Place, I picked her up a sweet "Birthday Princess" tee and a pair of sunglasses. Right now, I think her favorite color is yellow. If you remember last week, she insisted on buying a yellow sleeveless eyelet dress as her "Happy Birthday" dress. Today, she wanted the rainbow collection yellow shirt and at TCP she found a pretty yellow dress. She begged me for the dress and wouldn't let go of it. She was upset for a little bit because I didn't get it for her. We had a blast in Target. She did find a Rhinestone Sleeping Beauty & Butterfly Barbie Dolls, she had to have with her money. I went ahead and got her a pair of white sandals with wedges. Yes, I got wedges for my little girl, but they are adorable on her and she loves them.

Katie only got an hour nap today during our excursion; therefore, she was a terror the rest of the day. She loves pushing my buttons. She was either pulling on my sweater (stretching it) grabbing at me (telling me she was going to get me) or swatting at me (when I wouldn't let her get her way). On the way home, we were singing "Little Bunny Foo Foo" when all so the sudden I heard some familiar 80s music on the radio. Well, I began singing that music and Katie had a complete come-a-part. Picture this! While she is fastened in her car seat, she is kicking and screaming "no Mommy, no!" I turned the radio down and asked her what was the problem. All upset, she said "don't sing that song, Mom! No, no Mommy." I thought she didn't like my singing. So to see if that was the problem, I began singing "Little Bunny Foo Foo" again. She had no problem then. In fact, she sang along with me. I started singing the 80s music again and would you know that little turkey began throwing a fit again. I told her that I was the Mommy and I can sing whatever I wanted to and for her to straighten up or I was going to take away her Barbie. She didn't like it, but she shut up.

Katie and I came home tonight to a very sick Daddy. Doug didn't sound or look good at all. He took a shower to see if that would help him feel better. For fear of us getting this sickness again, Katie and I are camping out in the Living Room. What fun! Katie is ill with me. She wants to play around in the Living Room, tearing up jack. She's mad at me now because I told her to get back up on the couch and not to get off. I've threatened to take her to her bedroom and /or take away her Barbie doll. She's so whiny & crabby. Ugh! I guess I had better stop typing, so she'll calm down and go to sleep before I loose my mind.

Rainy Day!

Katie and I drove around town even though it rained most of the day. I thought it would be a good idea to get a McDonalds meal, go to the park and watch the ducks. Katie didn't like that idea. She throw an absolute fit when I turned into McDonalds. "I not want a McDonalds Mom!" she demanded. Okay. While we were droving around, seeing what's been going on these past several days, Katie fell asleep. I drove around as long as I could, so Katie could at least get a 30 minute nap. There is a new children's clothing shop in town called "Kids Unlimited." It just recently opened and from looking in the window, it looks real interesting. When and if we ever get a warm sunny day, I'd like to go check it out. I spoke to my cashier friend, I usually get her to check me out. She asked me if we've dodged the sickness. She said that they should have closed and quarantined Walmart this past week because of the illnesses. I told her that we didn't have the flu, but we did have the sinus trouble. By the way, Laura - we are trying the Mucinex (?). Katie's bad seal cough is pretty much gone. When she gets to playing and hot, she begins coughing. So, I'm hoping this will get the mucus on out of her. Doug came home coughing and he tried it out. He said that it tastes good at first, but it has a terrible after taste. He has to chase it down with a glass of water. He said he would stop by the store on the home tomorrow and see if they have a pill form.

I would love to go to Gymboree right now. I got a 20% coupon in the mail and they are having a pretty good sale. There is a green smocked shirt that I would like to get for Katiebug. They also have some of their Fall/Winter clothes on sale.

American Idol
I can't say I'm surprised with the results on this weeks American Idol contestants. Out of my list of 4 people that I thought would be sent home, I got two right. I was torn between Colton and Garrett leaving, but I was hoping Danny would have been the one. I have a feeling he is going to be another Sanjya (?). I absolutely could not stand that kid last year on AI. I really didn't think Joanne would be sent home so quick. I hate it because I know she's got a voice. After revisiting the women's performances from last night, I think I've changed my mind about Ramiele. I believe I'm going to add her to my list of favs.

I spoke to Mom tonight and she sounded really good. She was upbeat and refreshed sounding. She told me that she got a warm welcome back at the rehab. She got to work with her favorite PT, Anthony, today. I asked her if he was stunned to see her again. "Yes," she responded. She made friends with the clinic staff, so she got to rekindle her friendship. She told Anthony about her trouble area in her hip. He told her that it was a nerve that's hurting. He assured her that they would do specific exercises to help that area, while she was staying with them. Her heart scan came back good and that there was nothing wrong with her heart. Overall she had a very good day.

I Do It!

"I Do It!" is the new phrase around the household. Katie gets so mad at me, if I try to help her. She'll push me aside and tell me "no Mommy, I do it." Even washing her hands, she wants to do it herself. Today, I let her wash her hands by herself and she didn't wash with soap that I had out there for her to use. I made her get back up on her stool and try it again. Still wanting no help, I had to forcefully rinse off the soap. She didn't like it at all, but I didn't want her getting sick off of the dried soap left on her hands. Doug and I noticed a couple of weeks ago how much Katie wanted to wash herself in the tubby. I bought her some of that grip soap and she loved it so much, the soap was gone in a few days. While I'm washing her hair, she's got to get her hands up there and pretend like she's washing her hair. I don't know if I've told you about her using the word "sure" a lot. I think she got it from me saying sure. If you ask her a question that she likes, she'll answer "sure."

Maryann and Dad called me yesterday and said that Dr. Harsh felt it would be best if Mom goes back to the rehabilitation center for a week. Of course, Mom didn't want to go back there, instead she wanted to go home. Her coming home was out of the question, since they don't know if the antibiotic will work for another couple of days. Late last night, Dad called me and said Mom got to the rehab clinic and settled in before he left to go home. I got Mom's room phone number. If you would like it, please give me a call or email and I would be glad to forward it to you. According to the last time she was in rehab, she did all of her exercises during the morning hours. So, I'm going to wait and call her tonight.

Thus far, our little family is getting over this sickness. Doug and Katie still have a little cough, but nothing bad. I'll feel better when Spring weather gets here. Katie and I are planning to get out of here for the evening. I don't know how long we'll be gone or what we'll do, but we have got to get out of here. It's too cold to stay outside, so we might just drive around town. I need to get a few things at the store. As far as I know, everyone else in the extended family is slowly getting over this as well. I spoke to Peggy and she said that Millard went back to work today. We just hope ya'll have been either avoiding this terrible sickness or feeling much better.

American Idol

Well, the judges seem to think the girls did just as good or better than the boys. I can't say that. Comparing the boys singing to the girls, I feel the boys were much stronger. I understand several of the girls were sick, so that's got to be hard for them. Based on last night's performances, I really can't say whose my favorite girls. I like Alaina and Asia'h the best overall. I like Kady as well, but she's so good at imitating other singers. I feel she's going to have a hard time finding her own voice without the judges comparing her to some other professional singer. Who does Amanda Overmyer remind you of? There is something about her that reminds me of a specific singer/performer. At first, I thought of Joan Jett or Stevie Knight, but I really can't think of who it is. Maybe you can help me. I think Raimele sang well, but I'm not too sure if she would be my favorite. I didn't care for Joanne's performance last night, but I have heard her sing in the past auditions and I thought she was good. Don't forget, the results come on tonight. This should be interesting.

My pick for the four (2 boys & 2 girls)people leaving the show tonight will be:

  1. Alexandrea
  2. Amy
  3. Danny
  4. Colton

Who are your picks to leave tonight?

Have a great Friday!

The Final Inquiry Movie

I saw this movie advertised on my daily devotional. On the trailer, it says it's coming out this April on DVD. It sounds like it would be interesting to watch. Who is Monica Cruz? Is she Penelope Cruz's relative (sister)? At first, I thought Monica was Penelope because she looks so much like her.

I was reading through one of my devotionals online and came across a well known verse that seems to hit the nail right on my head. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones." Proverbs 3:5-8 You know with all that's been going on in my life. With Mom's illness, parenthood, housewife duties, and every day hussle and bussle. At times, it's tough to stay sane and pretty much Christ like. Yes, I've failed God many times. Here's a newsflash, it's not my first nor will it be my last. I have said things and handled situations now that I look back at it, I could have handled it differently. Have you ever been in that situation where you think, at the time, you thought you did what was best and it turned out not the best after all? Now I see, I was looking through my own eyes and understanding. I let other peoples' opinions and heavy hearts influence my judgment on situations and people. Presumptions and attitudes planted seeds of doubt and pain in my heart. The devil has had a blast with me these past several months. Since then, I've asked God's forgiveness and forgiveness from the people whom I've been upset with, including myself. But isn't it all part of living. You live and learn. Right? This verse speaks to me ~ don't let Satan plant seeds of doubt about yourself and your relationships. Trust that God will bring you through any situation even though at times it may look grim and not at all the direction you would see it. I hope this makes sense to some of you because of the many different negative experiences I've encountered this past year. I just thank God for speaking to me and guiding me one verse at a time. Isn't it great that you can always go to Him? He's never too busy for you and most important is that He completely understands what you are going through.

Late Breaking Info.

Okay, you know I reported earlier today that Mom told Susan, she had Staph instead of Strep. Well it's obvious, the nurses are pumping her full of pain relievers. Let me back up. Aunt Sherry called concerned about Mom having a chest scan. I told her about the uncertainty about what kind of infection she might have. After discussing with Sherry about the dangers of some Staph infection, she wanted me to get on the phone, call Mom's nurse and find out what's going on. I got in touch with the nurse, but I didn't have a PIN #; therefore, she couldn't give me any info. Shoot! After thinking about it, I called Mom's room number. She still sounded bad, like she was extremely tired or overly drugged. I tried to gently ask Mom about her condition. She told me she had the infection that children get in their throat. I asked her if it was Strep. "That's it," she said. Alright! I asked her for confirmation that it wasn't Staph. She assured me that it was not Staph. She just kept getting the two infectious names mixed up, "Staph" and "Strep." I guess that can be easily done. I hope this will help everyone to relax, especially if you've had contact with her.

American Idol

Tonight the top 12 guys sang. I think I've pretty much picked my favorites right now. I like David Archuleta. He is a real good singer, but he is so young. Doug and I really like David Cook. He seems to have more Rock -n- Roll locked up inside. I would like to hear him sing something more R&R. Maybe a little Aerosmith, AC/DC or White Snake. I also like Michael Johns and Jason Yeager, but I'm still not too sure about them. I think Michael, Jason and Luke Menard has the look, but okay vocals. Maybe it's just nerves and they'll do better next time. All the guys seemed to have won the judges tonight. Tomorrow, the girls perform and I'm excited to see who will do the best.

My New Favorite Commercial

"Thrillicious" ad is my new favorite commercial. It premiered during the Super Bowl 2008. It advertises a fairly new drink Life Water. So cute!

The Latest News!

I would love to see this movie, "The Other Boleyn Girl." I love movies about royalty and especially about historical royalty stories. Doug thinks it's weird and is totally not into these type movies. I am one of royal fans that like to keep up with the latest news. I loved watching "Elizabeth, The Golden Age" and "The Queen." Doug asks me "who cares?"

Well it's official, Blu-Ray wins the format battle over HD DVD players. It was reported today that Toshiba will no longer develop make or market the HD DVD players. Doug has tried to explain this whole HD world battle between the HD and Blue-Ray DVDs. We don't have to worry about this right away, but when we do purchase a new television I guess we'll have to purchase a new DVD player as well. As most of you know, I'm a movie nut and have quite a library started. So, I was worried about having to replace all of my precious DVDs. I've worked so hard replacing most of my Disney VHS collection to DVD and didn't want to have to do it all over again. Doug assures me that when we do purchase a new DVD player, it will play both Blu-Ray and the regular DVD formats. Shoo!

Okay, I've got some clarity as to what's going on with Mom. When I spoke to her this morning, I called at a bad time. She's been experiencing nausea and seems a little down. She said she had a little break down early this morning when Dr. Harsh looked her in the eyes and told her that she would walk again. She told me that she has had a lot of doubt of ever walking again running through her head. Him telling her that gave her a sense of hope and light at the end of the tunnel. I talked with her about the Strep infection found in her back. As best as she could explain, the Strep infection wasn't found in the back, but instead was in the blood system. I spoke to Susan after I talked to Mom. Susan said she too had spoke to Mom this morning, but while she was in good spirits and not sick. She said that Mom told her that it wasn't Strep but a type of Staph infection found in the blood stream. Dad told Susan the same thing he told me about her having a Strep infection, like Strep Throat. I guess as time goes on, we'll find out more information. I asked Mom if the doctor knew if the antibiotic was taking effect. She said that it would take 4-5 days before they knew for sure, which means she will be in the hospital during this time. As soon as they found out what type of infection she had, they administered a device around her armpit area to insert the medicine. Sounds weird, doesn't it. She said it hurt like heck while they were putting it in. I know she will be so glad when all of this is over.

Susan was back at work today. Poor Jon just can't seem to kick this flu. Yesterday, Leslie called Sue at work telling her that she had to go to work and Jon was throwing up. She said that he had a real bad headache that was causing him to throw up. She believes he's been suffering from Migraine headaches this whole time. She bought him some Exedrin Migraine to survive the day today at school. She said that thus far he is making it at school, but he's not looking forward to baseball practice.

I spoke to Peggy this morning, she said her and Millard have been trying to survive this sickness as well as everyone else. Millard has missed a couple of days of work because of the sickness. She told me that Vonell did get to go home today and seems to be doing better. James told her that Vonell had 95% blockage in the front part of the heart.

Katie ended up sleeping with us last night and didn't cough that much. She woke up in a pretty good mood. I've been waiting for the drainage and I believe it has finally kicked in. She's been having sneezing and coughing spells most of the morning. Yellow mucus is flying every where. I believe now she'll be much better when all that yucky stuff loosens and comes out.

Happy President's Day!

Photobucket

Hope you're able to have lots of luck with all of those President's Day sales today!

Maryann sent me this new picture of Ryan and Kasey

I just spoke to Dad and he said that Mom's culture is growing a Strep infection, like Strep throat. Weird isn't it? I believe this is the first I've heard of a Strep infection found in someone's back. They're administering the proper antibiotics in her now. Now that she has the right antibiotic, maybe she won't have to stay in the hospital for a long time. I'm hoping this will help her with the pain she's been experiencing. I spoke to Mom last night and she seemed to be in good spirits. I apologized to her for us not being able to visit her in the hospital. I explained that we haven't been exactly well around here. She said she understood and she seemed to enjoy a little bit of quiet. Don't get me wrong, she appreciates all the love and attention the past few months, but you know how it is. I can relate because I can be the same way. You just need a little bit of peace and quiet to suffer alone.

Doug got an update on Vonell. She had the Angioplasty done this morning. The doctors put a stint in, I believe, the front part of her heart. She had approximately 94% blockage and is doing well now. She is expected to go home tomorrow. Thank you for all the prayers.

Katie slept in her own room last night. Of course, she didn't want to. I gave her some Tylenol to help her rest. I was beginning to wonder if I did the right thing because for about two hours (10:00-12:00), she was crouping pretty good. I kept checking on her, but she would be sound asleep. She got up around 9:00 this morning. She was in a good mood, but still croupy. I think her appetite is coming back slowly because she ate most of her breakfast bar. She wanted to wear her new yellow dress or as she calls it her "Belle dress." I told her she could wear it as long as she wore some tights and a sweater.

The other day, I was checking out the Disney website. I clicked to see what kind of events were going on. I absolutely hate it that I missed the "Disney Playhouse Live Tour." It's suppose to be in B'ham on March 14th. They are to have characters from "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "My Friends Tigger & Pooh," "Handy Manny," and "Little Einsteins." Katie would have loved it because these are the shows she watches almost every day. I checked and all of the good seats have been taken. Doug said we could still take her, but I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to see anything. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for the next time.

Updates on the Patients

I checked in on Mom this morning. Dad said she seemed to be doing good and eating pretty good. Dr. Harsh had already come in this morning. He told them that the culture they tested last night isn't growing like he had expected. So, they don't know what kind of infection they are dealing with right now. He did go ahead and get her started on an antibiotic that would cover several different types of infections. Dad said Dr. Harsh is wanting Mom to stay in the hospital most of this week.

Peggy talked with Doug after church about Vonell. The doctors have postponed her Angioplasty for tomorrow. Apparently, they are overwhelmed with emergencies that are in more severe condition than Vonell. Joyce called us earlier today and talked with Doug. She didn't know about my Mom and asked if we were going to see James and Vonell at the hospital. Doug explained to her about Katie's cough and me not feeling well. I just can't seem to get over this sinus trouble and all the symptoms that come with it.

Katie ended up sleeping with us last night; therefore, I didn't get much sleep. Every time she coughed or made a noise, I was up making sure she wasn't going to throw up. I plugged in the humidifer, so that seemed to help. She still has a cough, but it's not as bad as it was yesterday. I've had the humidifer going all day, hoping that it helps her out. I'm just hoping tomorrow will be a better day for all of us.

Many Needed Prayer Request

Prayer Request
As you may know, my Mom went back to the hospital yesterday. She has an infection in and around her disk. At the hospital today, the doctors went in with a needle and took a sample of the infection to do a culture. You probably remember me blogging about her still being in quite a bit of pain, especially when she gets out of bed. The pain is along her hip and lower back area. The doctor told Dad that the kind of infection, she is dealing with can be very painful. According to Dad this afternoon, once they find out what kind of infection she has, they will begin pumping her full of antibiotics. He added that they will send her home with an IV in her because the antibiotics doesn't come in pill form. Please pray that everything will go okay and God will remove this infection, so Mom might be able to continue to heal without pain.

Aunt Vonell, Doug's aunt, was admitted in the hospital today. The doctors feel she has suffered a heart attack. She will undergo an Angioplasty tomorrow. Doug spoke to her tonight and she seemed to be in good spirits. Please pray that everything goes okay. That God will guide the doctors hands and be able to fix any problems she might be undergoing. Pray for God's blessings on Vonell including His strength and encouragement.

Katie got up this morning sounding like a seal. Here we go! Right off the bat, I got out the humdifier and hooked it up in the Kitchen. She loved drinking the apple juice. She didn't have much of an appetite. We did get her to eat a few french fries, banana pudding and yogurt. I was just glad to get the apple juice in her as much as possible. Most of this morning, she just wanted to be held and watch movies. I think she had a little bit of a stomach ache because she made this terrible face, grabbing her bottom and stomach. She started telling me that it hurt. I had an idea that her sinuses were draining onto her stomach, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else going on to her bottom. She kept telling me that she wasn't feeling good and that she needed to go to the hospital. She was beginning to act like she felt better as the day grew. By supper time, she didn't sound so horse, but she did have a croupy cough. I gave her some Tylenol to have a good night's sleep, a sippy cup of water and have her humdifier going in her room. Of course, they all ended up in bed with us. My poor baby! I hate it when she gets sick.

Sickness is all over the place here. Several of my family members including us have either had it, have it or are still getting over it. Ugh!! I'll be glad when Spring gets here, so I can open up this house and clean out the bad germs. It may be an ol' wives tell, but it's what my Grandmother and Mother always did. I guess that's why they call it Spring cleaning.

We are suppose to get some pretty strong storms tomorrow. I told Doug, I wanted to keep Katie out of church tomorrow. I hate it because she loves going to church, but I don't want her to get an worse.

Doug brought home a movie "The Game Plan" with "The Rock", Dwayne Johnson. I think he is so hot! I remember years ago watching him on Wrestling. Doug loved watching that stuff. I just like watching "The Rock." "Do you know what the Rock's been cooking?" I love it! Anyway, I really liked this movie. It was a good preview into a little girl's world to see what is to come with our little Missy. Doug asked Katie if she was going to BeDazzle all of his clothes and stuff. This is a got to see movie, especially if you have little girls.

Little Missy!

We got Katie's new sundresses in the mail yesterday. Right off the bat, she had to try them on. We like them both on her, but I have to agree with Katie and say that the handkerchief is my favorite. They are a little big, but all in all they are perfect. As you can tell in the pictures, Katie had to keep the handkerchief dress on the rest of the evening. Doug brought home some Mardi Gras lais and necklaces from work for Katie. She had to have everyone of them on her. She was so funny. She had to go around the house and look at every mirror, we own, so she could see herself. I've got the other pictures on the photosite. Today, the lais are molting all over the house. Ugh! So, I've been sneaking little by little a lai in the garbage. I know Katie is going to miss them, but I can't have little pieces of plastic all over the house. Plus, I can't chance her swallowing a piece.

We are dealing with little attitude changes with Katie. She is acting more and more like a girl. When she gets her feelings hurt, she either throws things along with a fit or she goes running for her bedroom and slams the door. Poor Doug, not having experience with little girls and mood swings, he doesn't know what to think about this change. We've been using the naughty chair on a regular basis now. It breaks my heart when she starts saying, "I be good Mom, I promise."

My aunt and uncle left this morning to head back to their home. They miss their family very much! Please keep them in your prayers that they have a safe journey home.

Mom is still experiencing pain and discomfort in her back. She had another MRI done this morning to let the doctors see what is going on back there. According to the MRI, she has an infection around the disk. Ugh!! The doctors told her to pack an overnight bag and head back to the hospital. I don't know any details right now. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks!

Brrr! I haven't see the weather forecast in the past couple of days, so I was surprised to see it snowing outside first thing this morning. We got a good dusting and Katie got so excited. She thought we were going outside to play in the snow again. Right off the bat, she wanted to make a snowman. I told her that there wasn't enough snow for a snowman. The temperature stayed around 27 degrees all day. I believe it's suppose to be around 20 degrees in the morning. Katie and I went to Mom and Dad's today, so I got out her new Winter coat for next year because it was so cold. She loves her new coat, especially since it comes with a matching purse.

Today was a good day for Mom. She was up and down without too much trouble. I made her a PB&J sandwich and she ate every bite. I was so proud of her accomplishments. She said that she hasn't had any nausea the past couple of days. Roger and Sherry are here to visit with her for a few days and then they will be back on the road home. Katie had to warm up to Roger and Sherry once again. She remembered them as soon as we drove up and she saw their RV. She pointed to the RV and said, "Roger." I asked her if she remembered them, because she really took up to Roger the last time they were here. As soon as they came out to greet us, she got shy all of the sudden. After Katie warmed up to Sherry, she really took up to her once again.

Walmart was running a special on their Ribeye steaks. I grabbed two for our Valentine's Day supper tomorrow. Doug and I exchanged our Valentine's gifts tonight because as he put it, "I'll be asleep when he leaves for work." He and Katie got me a pair of Adidas flip flops, Dove chocolates and card. He didn't care too much for his gift that Katie and I got him. He needed a new robe because his has a hole in it, so we got him a terry cloth type robe. Katie picked out the color, red. I couldn't find a silk or cotton material without paying $60. He needed a casual belt, but I got the wrong size. I got a movie that I thought he would enjoy watching periodically "We were Soliders." It's a movie based on a true story about a solider from Alabama during the Vietnam War. He did like the dress socks and Turtles Chocolates that we got him. I guess it wasn't a total loss. I normally get him cologne, but I knew he needed these things and wasn't able to get them for him during Christmas. He wants me to take the movie back. I have to take the belt back and he really wanted me to take the robe back, but then he saw how upset I was and he changed his mind. I told him to exchange it for fear of him not wearing it, if he keeps it. He refused. Oh well, Happy Valentine's Day! Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I got Katie a bug catcher with magnifying glass, Veggie Tale movie that's based on the movie "The Wizard of Oz," "Little Bunny Foo Foo" story book, and a tin purse container filled with M&M's. She got her a Ballerina Barbie the other day for Valentine's Day. She loved her gifts. She went around the house tonight with her magnifying glass, looking at everything.

Katie and I took advantage of this beautiful day and we did a little Valentine's Day shopping. We got Doug/Daddy and Katie's gifts bought. Katie picked out her "Happy Birthday" dress as she calls it. I kept trying to talk her into waiting on the dress. Nope, she kept begging me. She said, "I pay for it, Mom." I didn't know it was on sale, until I got up to the cash register. It's a pretty dress. I got it at Belk. It is sleeveless yellow eyelet full skirt dress with a silk yellow sash. I love the dresses, they have in stock, that have polka dots. There was one dress Katie and I both loved, but she picked the yellow one instead. It was green with pink flowers all over it and it had bows on the shoulders. So cute! Doug told me a while back that Hibbetts had some of their Alabama clothes for 75% off the original price. Jack pot!! I ended up getting Katie two cheerleader dresses & a denim jumper dress. One of the cheerleader outfits is for cooler weather, where the other one is for warmer weather. I had a field day in that store! If you don't have a Winter coat/jacket for your child next year, Dillards and Belk is having a great sale. Belk didn't have many coats/jackets left, but Dillards sure did. I was very tempted in getting Katie this water-resistant hooded jacket with fleece on the inside for $11. I had to slap my hands. I also found a couple of sweet hooded coats for $22. I've been looking for some cooler weather gowns for this Spring/Summer. Dillards has their girls sleepwear on sale for 50% off the original price. The only problem is it's not all of their sleepwear because I found the cutest pink sheer gown. Katie loved it, but it wasn't on sale - $12. I'll have to wait it out and maybe they'll go on sale soon.

Katie was so good all day with all the shopping, so I promised her that we would go to Target and look at the toys. I've been trying to teach her how to drink out of a regular cup. It's just as challenging at the potty training. I found some colorful cups just her size for $.99 each. She likes her cups, but I still trying to get it through her head that they are not sippy cups. I think we spent 2-3 hours in that store. I caved and let Katie get a Ballerina Barbie for her Valentine's Day present. It was $4.99. I let her choose between the Butterfly, Beach & Ballerina Barbies because they were all priced the same. She was so tickled! She didn't see me, but I grabbed the Mermaid Barbie for Easter. I just hope she starts going to the potty by Easter. We'll keep trying. It never fails as soon as I got in a store, Katie poops in her diapers and I'm caught without a diaper on me. You'd think I would have learned my lesson. Well, today's no different. Katie fell asleep by the time we got to Target, so I didn't change her diaper before we went inside the store. She woke up by the time we got inside the store and wouldn't go back to sleep. After I've picked up cards, gift bags, and a few other things, she announces to the world that she has just pooped and it stinks. She said, "shoo-wee, Mommy. I poopied and it stinks." Perfect! At first, I didn't believe her. Sure enough, it happened. I started to the restroom to change her diaper and then I remembered, I didn't put the diaper in her pink backpack. Ugh! We got in line to check out and Katie began getting upset with me. She was afraid we were not coming back inside to see the toys. I had to reassure her all the way to the truck.

I believe Katie is ready for Easter now. We've got the dress, shoes and now I would like to get her a new hair bow. She has one hair bow that she could probably use, but it's an alligator clip and I perfer the barrett. The barrett is a little harder to take out of her hair and I'm always loosing the alligator clip hair bows. Now, Mommy has to find a dress and begin to get ready for Easter. It will be here before you know it.

I never thought I would say it, but I wish the warmer weather would hurry up and get here. I'm beginning to panic. Katie is currently wearing a 2T, but she needs a 3T. Her pants are too short in the length and strad. A lot of her long sleeved shirts are too short and a little tight. Doug got on to me tonight because one of her hoodies could barely fit over her head. Ugh!

Lil' Miss Mommy In The Making

Okay. Katie is beginning early, practicing her parenting skills. She announced to me and Doug that her Tinker Bell and Snow White dolls have pooh-peed and they need to be changed. I just agreed with her that she needed to change them. Well, here she goes. She went in her room, grabbed a few diapers and the box of wipes. She had me take their clothes off, so she could change their pooh-pee diapers. Doug saw her using the wipes to wipe off their bottom. Too funny! When she was done, she said "there!" Of course, she went on to her other dolls. She wanted me to take their clothes off, so she could change their diapers. I had to explain to her why a couple of her dolls have clothes that don't come off. She seemed okay, when I told her to pretend to change their diapers.

She's learned a new word "favorite." As I'm getting her out of her tubby, I asked her if she wanted a pancake for supper. "Yeah!" she agreed. She went on to say, "I want a pancake. Pancakes are my favorite." Okay, I haven't heard that word before. Later tonight, she saw my big jug of apple juice. She told me,"Mom, apple juice is my favorite." She pronounces it perfectly by every syllable. She is so funny.

Susan, Leslie & Jon came by today to give out Christmas presents. Katie was having so much fun playing with Sue-Sue and Leslie, she hated to see them leave. They got Katiebug a cute Disney Princess Keyboard. Katie has been begging me for this keyboard for months, every time we go to Walmart. She loves it! I don't know who loves it more, Katie or her Daddy. Doug wanted to see her new keyboard. He played with that thing for quite some time. Susan had my name and she got me a pair of soft slippers, "The Devil Wears Prada" movie and a sweet snowman ornament. Of course, Katie took possession of the snowman as soon as Susan and kids walked through the door. Poor Jon felt about as bad as I did today. We both have sinus trouble.

Our household has been surviving the sinus season. It has been a challenge and it can really bring a person down. It started with Doug last week, so now he's pretty much over it. Katie has a running nose and chest congestion. Mine started with head pressure and an upset stomach last night. Today, I've been hacking, pressure in my head and stomach aches. I stayed home from church today because this was my day to help with the two year olds. I didn't think any parent would appreciate me being in the same room hacking all over their children. Doug wanted to go to Sunday School and Katie really wanted to go to her class. She loves playing with her friends and going to the playground. I started to have Katie stay home with me, but I hated to keep her from church. Doug said he could handle her fine. She was so excited. She kept rushing Doug to get ready, so she could go to church. "Let's go Daddy, I ready to go." she'd say. It was funny watching her jumping up and down.

Doug and I have been talking about getting Katie enrolled in something when she turns 3. We just can't decide what. I guess the best thing is to find out what's available and then find out how much it's going to cost us. She loves dancing, tumbling, singing and playing. I wouldn't mind her going to Mom's Day Out once a week. I think it would be good for her and me. I think Doug wants her to get into something like dance or tumbling. He has already announced that she'll be taking swimming lessons this year. Okay. I think our local elementary school pool has lessons every year, but I'll check it out. Now, I'm really going to have to loose the weight.

Wow! I knew Tubbyville was desparate, but not this desparate. Tehe! Doug sent this to me.

Happy Anniversary Nolan & Liz!

I would like to wish Nolan & Liz a very Happy Anniversary!!

Well, we got a few things marked off of our long "To Do" list. It was such a beautiful day! Doug took advantage of this perfect day to wash the car, while Katie and I picked up sticks and packed away the last of the Christmas decorations. For several months, I have been wanting to clean out the inside of the truck. Things would always come up or I would completely forget, so I was determined to get it done today. Katie seemed a little bored outside, so I got out the sidewalk chalk. We had a great time drawing on the driveway; however, she got mad at me when I was trying to teach her about sharing. She wouldn't let me have any chalk to draw and I'm not going to have a selfish child. At that moment, I knew it was time to go in the house and rest. Millard and Peggy drove up for a quick visit, while I was putting all the toys away for the day. The rest of the day, we watched movies and eBayed. Doug stopped by the movie place and rented "No Reservations" for me. I've been wanting to see it for months now. It's a good chick flick and I think Doug even liked it because I heard him giggle a couple of times. "The Holiday" is showing on Starz this month and I've been watching it a half a zillion times. I just love this movie. Right before Christmas, Doug found the preplayed version on sale at "Movie Gallery" for $4.99. I was so tickled that he got it for me.

I've been watching these two sundresses on eBay. Doug and I liked them and thought Katie would look cute this Summer in them. They are both Gap brand names, so I know their made well. I was excited that we won the auctions! The handkerchief dress is brand new with tags and the other lavendar dress is like new. The floral headband is included. It wasn't bought at Gap, but it was bought for this dress. I'm a little disappointed. I listed some more dresses and outfits for Easter on eBay and I only have a couple of watchers. I try to think positive because they still have a day or so to go before the auctions end. I think maybe I've got them priced too high. The last bids, I thought I had some of my dresses priced too low. Go figure! I guess, if they don't sell, I can always re-price them and list them again.

New Pictures of Lilly Ann

Sarah sent me these new pictures today. Isn't she so cute!

Have a great day tomorrow!

The Country Needs Your Prayers!

Wow! The storms that came through here early this morning was an experience. Our weather station warning for our county woke us up around 3:30 this morning. According to the Meteorologist on our local news, indicated some strong circulation very near us. I looked out the window and the lightning was so strange. There wasn't much thunder, but the lightning was constant just like a huge strobe light. We are alright. The path of the storm went between all of our relatives, including us. I checked on Mom this morning and they survived as well.

According to the news this morning, the storms wreaked havoc on most of the southern states. Thus far, Tennessee reported 24 people dead, Arkansas had 13, Kentucky had 7 and Alabama reported 4 people dead. There are several injuries, missing people and lots of property damage.

Please keep these people in your prayers. What they must be going through? We take so much for granted.

Even though we've gotten tons of rain this past few days, we still need more in order for our water levels to go back up. It's like the earth drinks up all the water that falls as soon as it lands on it's surface. A few people from our church has started up a Rain Prayer Rally for February 22nd. The meeting will be held in a conference room at one of our local hotels. I don't think God cares if the prayers go up to Him from a conference room or your own private home. Please remember us here in the South and please ask God to continue to bless us with rain and more rain. Thank you ahead for all the thoughts and prayers!

Here's the picture of Fairy Katie be-bopping around the house telling me she was going to Walmart. Her imagination grows every day. She plays with her dollhouse all the time. She puts her dolls to sleep (talking to herself) and then she pretends to sleep as well. She told me earlier that Shrek wanted to go outside to play, but it's too cold. She puts two and two together. She asked me if her Daddy was at work. When I told her that he was at work, she said she was going to see him tonight when it gets dark outside.

Themes for Katie's Birthday Party

I thought we had the themes narrowed down between "Hello Kitty" and "Strawberry Shortcake." Katie caught me looking at birthday supply websites and she saw "The Wizard of Oz" party supplies. "Doroty, look Mom it's Doroty." She said. She went on to say that she liked Dorothy. I asked her if she would like a Dorothy birthday party? Her eyes all wide open, she said "yeah!" She also pointed out "The Little Mermaid" and "Cinderella." She said that she liked them too. I had to add them to the list. Maybe when we get closer to the birthday party, she'll narrow it down a little more.

Laura, I noticed your Bama icons/clip art and I don't know why I didn't think of it. I thought that was a good idea, so I went on Photobucket and got a few Bama clip arts to decorate my blog as well. Thanks for the idea!

Happy Mari Gras!

It's Super Tuesday! Did you have the opportunity to vote? This is the first time for me to not vote in the Primary. I've been under the weather for the past few days and I just can't shake it. My opinion, I don't feel there is anyone running this year for President that has impressed me enough. I guess if I had felt well enough, I would have voted for Huckabee. In fact, Huckabee won in Alabama on the Republican Party. We won't find out the final numbers tonight, but it looks good for Obama in the Democratic Party and McCain for the Republican Party. What a race to the White House this will be?!? The next few months will be interesting leading up to the November elections. It will be hard for me to decide who to vote for.

eBay News

The last buyer of my auctions finally paid me today after I sent her an invoice and two notices. She told me, she just found out she was pregnant and had forgotten about the auction. I went through some more boxes of Katie's clothes and found some other dresses and outfits to list. So, I'm getting some new auctions together to be listed tomorrow. I relisted the sweaters that didn't sell the last time. I had some watchers for the sweaters, but no one bid on them. This last lady said she forgot about it because the auction time was so long. I had the auction last for 7 days. Maybe I need to shorten it to 4 or 5 days. What do you think?

American Idol

Did you get to watch American Idol tonight? I didn't get a number of people who made it through to Hollywood, but I think the South was well represented again. The Idol was in Atlanta, Georgia. They showed quite a few people going through to the next round. I felt so bad about the 18 year old boy from Tennessee, who was living out of his car. He said his parents didn't know he was living in his car, except for today. He said he told them he was staying with friends. He had a good voice and I hope he makes it as far as possible. What about the young lady whose Father died in a car accident two days before her audition? Oh my gosh! How she could have stood there singing and her voice not crack or bust out crying? Amazing! I cried the whole time she sang. My heart hurt for her.

Mom's Condition

She has her good and bad days. Dad said she was still complaining about her back hurting. He said she didn't eat that much for breakfast. I think she doesn't have an appetite because she is uncomfortable and in pain. The nurse told Dad to give Mom her pain pills instead of Tylenol. He thought she would do better, if she got off of the pain pills as soon as possible. The pain pills make Mom real sleepy and Dad didn't think her sleeping so much was good for her. They finally got an appointment with her regular doctor for this week. He asked me to go with them. Katie will be so excited to spend some time with Grandma Peggy, while I'm with Mom and Dad.

Katie's Little Personality

It was so cute today! Katie insisted on wearing her new white beach dress. So, I adjusted the buttons because it is a 3T; therefore, it wears a little big right now. The dress is sleeveless, so I put a sweater on to cover her arms. She also wanted to put on her Tinkerbell wings on top of her sweater. I'll post the pictures later. She was be bopping around the house pushing her carriage and her tote bag hanging off of her fore arm. I was making her lunch when she came by me and said she was going to Walmart. I told her to buy me something, while she was there. "Okay Mommy!" she said as she was giggling. She did this a few times. This evening, she was on her third dress of the day. It was one of her 2T dresses from last Summer and it was pretty short. She told me that she had to have her Dorothy shoes. She came prissing down the hallway with her mini skirt dress and glittery black ballet shoes with no socks. Doug told her, she is not to wear mini skirts in this house. She jabbered back at him. Later, she came right in the Living Room, sat down carefully and crossed her legs like a little miss priss. Doug asked her to dance like a balleria and surprisingly, she did. He began laughing. He told me that he wouldn't believe it, if someone would have told him a year ago that his baby would love dresses, glittery shoes & dance like a balleria at the age of 2. All we could do was giggle about it.

Weather Watch

We are all under a thunderstorm watch until later tomorrow. Storms are expected to come through around 4:00 - 5:00 a.m. Dad and Mom spent the night with Pat and June because of the expected storms. The temperature was perfect here at 75 degrees, but it was gloomy and rainy off and on. I've noticed the local creeks and lakes are filling up pretty good around here. What a relief!

Happy 71st Birthday Mom!

Photobucket

I want to wish my Mom a very Happy Birthday!

Katie and I visited Mom today on her birthday. Unfortunately, she was having a bad day. She feels that her artheritis was acting up in her hips. Her right hip was really giving her fits. So bad to where she couldn't do her exercises well. The nurse came by this morning and checked Mom out. Mom told her about the pain she was experiencing. The nurse said it could be the catheter irritating her. The nurse feels she might have some nerve damage on her left side causing her not be able to control her muscles very well. While I was there, Dad left to do his walking and other errands. Maryann came by on her lunch break and visited with Mom for a little bit.

Katie and I tried to do a little fingerpainting tonight. It's the "no mess" paint and paper. Cool huh? Katie seems to like it better than the "no mess" coloring pages. Her and I painted a page & put it on the refrigerator and then she painted me a page. I can't get her to understand, not to dig holes in the paint. Oh well, she enjoys it because she'll giggle and show me what she has done.

Katie has gotten in a habit now where she'll put food in her mouth, chew it up and spit it out at any unknown moment. Ugh!! It doesn't necessarily mean her mouth is too full. It could be anything. She may decide that she doesn't like the taste of something or she wants a drink of juice. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with her.

Mince the heavy fog and drizzly rain, it was a beautiful day with the temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Apparently, the warm weather put everyone in a good mood to go to Walmart because that is where everyone was this afternoon. I had to pick up a few things and oh my gosh, it was packed full of people. You know when you go into a crowded store, you are bound to run into some one you know.

Have a great Tuesday and Don't forget to vote tomorrow!

Super Bowl Sunday

Congratulations NY Giants (NY 17 vs. NE 14)!!!!

I thought this was going to be a very dull game considering the first 3 quarters. New York pulled it through on the last few seconds of the game. What a fantastic ended of the game?!? Wow!! I didn't get to see all of the commercials. Thus far, I did like the "Life Water" commercial where the lizards were doing the "Thriller" dance. Pretty cute!

After church, Katie and I went over to spend a little time with Mom and Dad. Susan and her family came over as well. I didn't plan on staying during the Super Bowl, but Susan and Tim insisted that we stay and eat some fish for supper. Doug had to go to a Deacon's meeting, but came over later with his Buffalo Style Chicken Dip & chips. We had a real good time and I was surprised how long Mom stayed up with us before getting tired. She did real good as far as exercising and wanting to get up and walking around. She's been having some pain in her bladder area. She is afraid she might have a bladder infection. It hurts especially when she has to cough, so she tries to limit her coughing. Her nurse is suppose to come by tomorrow some time, so she'll mention it to her.

While we were at Mom and Dad's, June brought over Katie, Jon & Leslie's Christmas presents. She gave Jon a nice Alabama toboggan. Katie got a sweet Tinkerbell costume and wand. Katie loves it! She was dressed up like a pixie the rest of the night. Oh and get this, she told Susan not once but three times that she had to go potty. Luckily, I had our new folding potty seat to put on Mom and Dad's toilet in order for Katie to use the potty. Sure enough, she pee-peed twice for Susan and once for me, while we were there. Susan seems to think she's ready. She assured me not to wait any longer because it might confuse her. She advised that we stick with the potty training and not stop at any time. Ugh!! Okay, we'll try again. As soon as I got home, I told her that we needed to go to the potty and she didn't want to go. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Okay, I know Katie has a Minnie Mouse swimsuit that I bought her last year on sale, but I wanted to have another one on hand. I got this brand new swimsuit off of eBay for $8.99. Isn't it cute? It's lavendar with white daisies all over it. I think some bikinis look so cute on children. I know Katie had a cute hot pink tankini last year. It was my favorite and she got so many compliments on that suit.

There was another swimsuit that Katie and I both wanted to get, but every auction ended up selling it for around $22-$30. It was a sweet one piece Hawiian Hello Kitty style (pictured above), but I can't force myself to spend $20+ on a suit that she won't wear that much a year. Yeah, she probably will be in the pool a lot more this year than last that's another reason why I wanted to get a second suit.

We are officially ready for potty training that is when Katie is ready. I got the travel potty and fold away plastic seat cover yesterday. I unfolded the travel potty to check it out and Katie had a fit. She loves it! In fact, the little turkey told us, she wanted to go potty in her little potty. I had to do some fast talking as she is pulling pants down and working on her diaper.

Have a great week and don't work too hard!

Happy Groundhog's Day!

Photobucket

How sad it is to find out that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow; therefore, predicting 6 more weeks of Winter. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for Spring. I went through some Spring pictures late last night on Photobucket and it got me in the Spring mood. It would be so good to get out of the house and go for a long walk or a picnic. I love picnics. I found some real cute picnic baskets for kids at Target and Walmart, which gets me so excited for Spring. I went ahead and got Katie a bug kit with the wire mesh box and magnifying glass. I thought about getting the matching butterfly net, but I figured she was too young for one of those right now. I plan on giving them along with her Veggie Tale movie to her for Valentine's Day.

We are going to visit Millard and Peggy today. I hope it stays nice and sunny most of the day, so we can get outside for a little bit. A little sunshine and fresh air always clears the soul. Doug took the car by to get the oil changed and the place he normally uses went up on their prices. So, he's going to change it at his Mom and Dad's while we are there.

I plan on visiting my Mom tomorrow because her birthday is this week. Susan and I are going to go over there right after church. Sue plans to bake her a cake. We both feel Dad needs to get out of the house for a little bit, relax and do some things he's been putting off. We hope to get Mom outside on her porch for a little bit and get some sunshine. Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, but maybe we can schedule our brief outting around the rain. We'll see.

Will the Groundhog find his shadow?

Will the groundhog find his shadow? This will be the big question tomorrow morning? I know it's silly and superstitious, but I think it's fun.

You will be happy to find out that we have packed up most of our Christmas today. The reason I'm at a hault is because Katie's Christmas tree is taller than the box I had available. Yes, we finally have our Living Room back. Doug even had a smile on his face when we finished. Katie really didn't want us to put everything up. I thought she was going to get real upset, until I told her that we had to get ready for Valentine's Day and Easter. She ask me if we were going to see it again, which means we will have Christmas again. I reassured her and she seemed to be okay with it.

Sarah sent us new pictures of Lilly Ann. It looks like she has blonde hair. She had better hang on to Daddy's remote control as long as she can. Too cute!

Doug bought the ingredients to make his famous Buffalo Chicken Style Dip and chips. It's pretty good as long as he doesn't put too much buffalo sauce. I like flavor not heat. He's planning on making it for Super Bowl Sunday.

Go NY Giants!
