Microburst Hits Huntsville Airport During Air Show Killing One

Doug and I heard about this tonight on the news. Below is the actually report from Channel 19 Newsroom. You might be able to still see the video from their website http://www.whnt.com/. You'll find it under "Top News Video" section.

Thousands of people were at Huntsville International Airport Sunday to watch the Army's Golden Knights and Navy's Blue Angels but the performance was cut show after a thunderstorm put down a microburst.

47 mile per hour winds at the airport toppled several tents set up for spectators. People were holding onto them to try to keep them from blowing away.

A child, 5 year old Aaron Miller, was killed when an air conditioning unit in one of the tents fell.

At least 12 people were taken to Huntsville Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children to be treated for injuries. A hospital spokesman expects most of them to be treated and released. Their injuries range from cuts and bruises to broken bones.

The air show was immediately cancelled after the storm came through.
